The Federal High Court in Abuja has refused a request by the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, seeking to be moved from the Sokoto Correctional Centre to a custodial facility within the Federal Capital Territory or nearby Nasarawa State.

Kanu, acting through the Legal Aid Council, had filed an ex-parte application asking the court to compel the Federal Government or the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) to relocate him urgently to the Kuje Custodial Centre in Abuja or the Keffi facility in Nasarawa.

As an alternative, he asked to be transferred to any correctional centre under the jurisdiction of the Abuja division, such as Suleja or Keffi, to allow him better access to legal counsel and to properly pursue his ongoing appeal.

However, on Monday, Justice James Omotosho dismissed the request, ruling that the court could not make such an order without first hearing from the Federal Government.

The judge instructed Kanu to refile the application as a motion on notice and to serve it on all relevant parties in the interest of fair hearing.

The matter has been adjourned until 27 January 2026, when the motion will be considered.

Kanu should have no business in court. He should be left to stew in prison until they find a suitable alternative to his incarceration.

This is very commendable from the judiciary

No retreat, no surrender. Kanu will stay there till 2027.

Even the head is different. He should remove that red cap. This can never be Ohamadike,the lion of Biafra land. No zoo court or zoo Judge can jail him because they don't know law. Lol....🤣🤣

Do you regard Alloy Ejimakor and Maxwell Opara as lawyers? These are just charge and bail content creators who Kanu kept around to Stoke and massage his megalomaniac ego. He could slap them and shout on them any how he choose and the two donkeys would accept it because they want their pictures in the newspapers and on the Internet.
Kanu sacked two learned silks in SAN Mr Kanu Agabi and SAN Mr Mike Ozekhome to hire those two clowns as lawyers/ legal consultants. They put him where he is now in the Sokoto corrections facility and if care is not taken the two clowns who have severally shown their legal incompetence will bungle his appeal process against the life imprisonment conviction.
Kanu needs to humble himself,accept he made a grave and costly error to employ those two clowns as his legal team and employ learned and competent lawyers to file his appeal.
He who feels it knows it. Kanu should use his tongue to count the teeth in his mouth. He is the one locked up in a solitary cell I'm the harsh sweltering heat of the Sokoto desert.

The Federal Government is following due process and the court has ruled. I hope Kanu gets the fair hearing he deserves.

Meanwhile, I wonder what Kanu is eating in the Sokoto prison that he wants to relocate so badly.
