There was no collateral, the only security used was insurance bond, and other banks cheque (which was presented and bounced back)
So you do not verify the status of collateral and have them in banks possession before you grant loan?

You think it's easy to resign and move on? Most recovery suspension lettersninform you that you are not permitted to resign during the period. If you resign and move on to other banks, what happens to your confirmation as you need reference from your previous place of employment.
Uncle where did I say it was easy to move on.
By the way did she specifically tell you that her own letter says she cannot resign?

Also even if the letter says you cannot resign, did one go to school without school going through you?

Is is possible in this modern age for slavery to exist on paper and remain unchallenged?

Mrschiago:
It’s not about being a woman or a man… it won’t be easy getting another bank job, because the new employer will still carry out background checks with my former bank, before my employment will be confirmed.

Like you advised, I’ve accepted the new bank offer, but I have just few months (before confirmation) to clear my name with my former bank

And that is why I’m here, seeking for advice on how to recover the loan, if possible through interpol
All I'll add is I wish you the best.

From experience I know it's not easy, but the aim of my post was to help you understand that life goes on and must go on. Those who appreciate this faster move on from this roadblock and this challenge just becomes another grateful testimony.

All the best again.

This is against labour laws. I know the bank is likely the very old one. If you are sure the loan met every approved risk assessment criteria you can protest.

Mrschiago:
NL fam please we need your assistance here.

I work with a bank, and gave out bank loan to a customer.

The customer used the bank’s money which was supposed to be for his business to travel abroad.
Immediately after he got the loan, he closed down his business, and due to this japa, he has been unreachable, and has refused to pay back.

I have been placed on indefinite loan recovery suspension without pay, until Ithe customer is able to pay up the money.

I’ve tried to reach out to the embassy to no avail.

Please help

Then my brother you have a strong case of forced / coerced Labour, working without pay, modern slavery .Report to the cbn call their attention , report to the court of the public defender , industrial court or court of arbitration, fccpc ( for undue practices ) NLC , TUC if possible engage on social media but remain anonymous, you can tag VDM, HARRISON GWAMNISHU or if you have the customer's details like photos , full name , address, social media handle I can lend you my support by calling him out on the Internet.
Best of luck my brother

Mrschiago:
I wasn’t part of any scheme, I just did my job, and giving out loans to customers is part of my kpi, all due diligence was properly done

What implication?

None of us is God, you don't have a crystal ball to see the future and know what will happen, or do you?

My advice to her was based on realism and PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, I stated this clearly when I realised how dire her case was and that she had put out this query more than once.

To make it clear once more:

1.Legally the Bank cannot withhold her reference
2.Legally the Bank has no business witholding her salary and making her financially liable for a bad loan that she has no stake in or was not given out fraudulently.
3. From personal experience, it is better she moves on to another Bank to continue her career if she has a solid offer.

This last piece of advice is based on the assumption that the loan she has given is irrecoverable, especially with all the information she has given so far which strongly suggests that to serious people.

And instead, some of you are misleading her by asking her to contact INTERPOL...I mean come on, INTERPOL for a bad cheque huh

it is not everything we must give advice on when we know we don't know what we are talking about.

Agreed, no one is playing God here but having worked in that sector for some years, I know what entails when you move from one bank to another and I'm playing out possible scenarios. Nigerian banks are like a cartel, if she gets negative reference from her previous play of employment, her confirmation will be delayed and they might apply LIFO on her unless shes very good with deposit mobilization. So the option you are advising is just delaying the inevitable.

I never said it was legal for the bank to withhold her salary as she neither vetted, approved nor disbursed but the account officer is always held liable when issues like this or any other come out because you are assumed to have executed KYC and others. To take the bull by the horn will cost her a lot but now she has moved, she can start the process of recovering her withheld salaries at the industrial court and hope for the best. But like I said, this is Nigeria and I'm being practical.

Kindly point out where I advised her going to INTERPOL. I hope it's not the itch to sound correct that is behind this allegation.
