I did mine twice. It was a very silly mistake that cost me the first attempt. I made few mistakes the second time also, but the examiner was generous in his judgement. I even forgot to use my seatbelt during the parking stages, it was when I was about to get on the road that he reminded me to use my seatbelt. Other examiners would have outrightly failed me.

They usually don't put too much priority on your driving skills, what they mostly care about is how defensively you can drive and applying the use of those road signs perfectly.

When a new immigrant enters the U.S. for the first time with an immigrant visa, the immigration officer at the POE will stamp the immigrant passport with an I-551 endorsement that serves as a temporary green card and proof of Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) status, allowing the immigrant to work and reside before the physical green card arrives.

The I-551 stamp, combined with the immigrant visa in your passport, functions as a temporary green card for up to one year from the date of entry.

You can take your passport to the social security office to apply for a social security number if you don't have one yet.

You submitted the information required for your social security number while filling the DS260. Green card fee is $235 per head and it’s advisable to pay for everyone at once.

More countries are being added to the list of countries facing partial restrictions: Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Ivory Coast, Dominica, Gabon, Gambia, Malawi, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Tonga, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The restrictions apply to both people seeking to travel to the U.S. as visitors or to emigrate there.

Yes you have your Green Card, however it's not an end of itself.. it's still a privilege
Pls stay out of trouble
Don't Drink and Drive
Volunteer in your community - be of good moral character. , this counts towards citizenship.
This current administration has way more scrutiny on immigrants even with your green card.

Lastly, there's always work in the US regardless of your education level. Also opportunities exist to learn at your pace

One more thing, you can live anywhere so if you don't like the city you landed in you can move.

I do hope US Lagos consulate is kind and reschedules Jan interviews for Dec 2025 for immigrant visas.

For those who have options of residency in countries that are not on the travel ban, you might want to consider relocation.

Travel bans are typically reviewed every180 days, the last travel ban proclamation was in June 2025.

Relocation would only work if they are citizens of that country. Being a permanent resident only wouldn’t cut it. Hope in 180 days the issues expressed are resolved.
