I was just taxed on my Tbill at maturity yesterday. Something that was meant to be tax free to encourage people to purchase it and help curb inflation. Tinubu is useless!! Knows absolutely nothing other than tax and extort.
we will slow down the economy, lower the purchasing power and broaden the tax net.
it was a campaign promise na.

Most countries tax Tbills o. E be like say una dey enjoy some dividends of democracy for that Nigeria. Hehehe
Do the politicians of those countries squander public funds on personal indulgences and sponsoring numerous sidechicks on vacations to different continents?
Do they insult their citizens when the citizens try to hold them accountable?
Is there no stable electricity in those countries?

You know when people are blinded by their own sentiments they begin to yarn nonsense despite their exposure.

Someone is somewhere where government is run effectively. He enjoys steady power, good roads, security, working environment, social amenities, etc and he is defending the rubbish this government is doing and arguing with those who are here.

Imagine talking about 'dividends of democracy' in Nigeria. 😂

I agree with you completely that all these things need to be addressed.

I was specifically addressing his complaint about Tbills being taxed. That is not unusual.

You people are illogically emotional.

Taxing treasury bills and wasting our commonwealth are mutually exclusive. Two truths can exist without canceling out each other.

You can campaign for non-taxation on treasury bills and continue the media and legal exposition of the corrupt practices of office holders.

What seems immoral is sometimes legal.

A≠D when A is 5 and D is 9. Two mutually exclusive issues.

Taxing treasury bills ≠ corrupt politicians.

You can whip up sentiments on Facebook with a lot of mindless, uninformed emotional people but in here, logic has to prevail. There are no 100,000 followers to pander to so stay logical at all times.

It's an APC thing... and it stems from either a tribal perspective or from benefiting directly from the ruling party.

Anything short of that is simply delusion or cruise

You just gats pick one and treat respectively. kiss

This administration is taking this tax stuff too serious. If only they used money well, people wouldn’t even complain.

They demand more from citizens while giving absolutely nothing back. Imagine paying tax to folks who can’t account for loans, can’t explain revenues, and can’t even fix the basics.. No transparency, no accountability, no improvement, just relentless extraction.

Meanwhile, they didn’t create the environment that helped you earn your money, but they want to collect from it? And we all know how the film ends; public money disappears into their private pockets, while sponsoring their numerous side chicks to different continents and buying them cars, while the side chicks come online to claim they're self employed and "God did".

Allowing Nigerian politicians to dig deeper into public pockets to subsidize personal indulgences and private luxuries is a real tragedy.
what is even more disturbing is the fact that some people will defend these politicians eventho they are not benefiting from them

You hit the nail.

The only reason it seems people against the taxes is because it ends up sponsoring the private and lavish lives of the criminals parading as govts.

Some people will come here to tell you what they pay as taxes abroad, just to downplay your post, but they wont tell you how the taxes they pay over there are being pit to good use

While I understand your feelings, you don't necessarily need a lot of money to leave this country.

What I want to say now, I say it with a lot of empathy.

Lots of people who leave this country, they don't even have the money.

They use the school route.

Apply to schools abroad. Most don't even pay application fee.

They just look for some little money and write the GRE. Get a very high score, and get a scholarship. They still even get jobs on campus in either the academic or administrative department.

Before they go abroad, most don't even have the proof of funds; they "get" the proof of funds.

Sometimes, we don't need to "hate" or dislike some of these "abroadians"; we just need to ask them to explain to us how to go abroad.

When they explain to you, even you will know that you don't need a lot of money to leave this country.

I have said the above from a place of enlightenment and empathy, not arrogance or anything like that.
