Mr P, one half of the legendary music duo P-Square, recently returned to Jos, Plateau State, the city where he and his twin brother Paul Okoye (Rudeboy) grew up and began their iconic music career—nearly 20 years after leaving.

Ahead of his visit, the superstar reportedly moved with a heavy security convoy, said to include over 20 personnel, seemingly in anticipation of a massive fan turnout. A viral clip showing Mr P waving from the sunroof of a moving vehicle as residents went about their daily activities quickly circulated online. Some bloggers claimed that fans did not turn out, sparking heated debates on social media.

However, this narrative was misleading. Mr P later shared exclusive footage from the visit, clearly showing excited fans, cheering crowds, and wild jubilation in several areas of Jos, proving that the love for the superstar remains strong.

It’s also understandable that some areas saw fewer people—the city is large, and after 20 years away, not everyone may recognize him immediately. This is a reality any global celebrity might face.

Wetin I do nítorí oloún. The funny thing is, I'm not even on social media. And let's be clear: Nairaland isn't social media; it's a discussion forum where you actually go to learn stuff. When you have smart people debating, you're always going to have a little 'disagreeing to eventually agree'—that's how we all get smarter! I really miss the old days when the brilliant minds were sparking epic debates.

Now, it feels like it's just toxic people who jump straight to insults whenever they disagree.

Why is he going back there now that his ovation is almost gone? Why didn't he go there around 2012/2014, is he trying to revive his dead music career at 55yrs?

Nigeria is a disgrace. Where will you see the US army making its men available to guard any musician? Which Nigerian army commander made his men available to guard an ordinary musician? What kind of nonsense is this?

Psquare left Jos in bad blood. They really don't have positive vibes in that city. The backup dancers they started with that they used and dumped, their Alma Mata, St. Murumba College Jos which was very instrumental in making its hall available for psquare to shoot their early videos free of charge (I should know, I was there as a student), not once have psquare remembered the school that was there for them. 2face still visits MSG in Makurdi and relates very well with the students.

Psquare are users essentially. They will find Jos a cold indifferent embrace.
