Drama unfolded during the final funeral rites of Ghana's late former Defense Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, in Koforidua today, Saturday, December 13, 2025, as mourners scrambled for funeral souvenirs.

The incident reportedly occurred after the service was abruptly halted due to a sudden downpour accompanied by strong winds.

Dr. Omane Boamah was among eight individuals, including fellow Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, who tragically lost their lives in a military helicopter crash on August 6, 2025.

The state-recognized funeral, held at Jackson’s Park in Koforidua, was expected to attract hundreds of mourners alongside government officials. However, the adverse weather forced an unexpected interruption, cutting the proceedings short.

A video circulating widely on social media, especially TikTok, captured the chaotic rush for commemorative items as attendees sought souvenirs amid the confusion caused by the rain.

Dr. Omane Boamah, a respected medical doctor and public servant, was fondly remembered in emotional tributes from his family and colleagues, who praised his unwavering dedication and service to the nation.

Ghanians behave like cannibals.
This is a harsh thing to say but it reminds of one tribe in Nigeria

We need to change the way we do burials in Africa. That is one of the things I admire about the West. You mustn't eat and share stuff all the time. It is not a wedding. Mourn and go home.

This is funny!

I don't see myself doing this, ever!

Any occasion I attend, the people involved always singlehandedly hand over the souvenir to me.

I won't even attend an occasion I'm not invited to.

Ghana and burial.

It's only in Ghana you will see the association of mourners . The way those hired mourners cry at funeral heh, you will either think they are the closest to the deceased or deceased owed them a lot of money.

If this had happened in Nigeria, a certain group—mostly from one tribe—would be busy blaming Tinubu and the Yoruba people; now that it happened in Ghana, they’re suddenly out of villains and out of noise.

You must be a Ghananian to have reacted the way you did. However, what the OP posted is just one of the normal news reports from Ghana.

Ahh,

Bring back memories of the Cake festival that happened earlier this year which went in a similar direction when it came to the Nigerian version.

The Ghanians sha yabbed us then.

I guess they dropped quality standards during this burial, lols.
