It's about knowing the truth.
If you don't believe Jesus is God you are actually not a Christian, perhaps you belong to some other religion, it is that tricky.

It is not the name you give yourself that matters, It is what you believe that matters.
If you like, call yourself Christian but if you don't believe that Jesus is God you are only deceiving yourself.

The questions you should start asking is, WHAT CONSTITUTE GOD?

Satan used a fast one on them {2Corinthians 4:4} just as evil politicians always do "if you can't beat them, lead them"
Satan realized that with God's holy spirit the Christians won't give up {Matthew 16:18} no matter how much they are killed so he introduced falsehood to them and continue attacking those taking the lead among them. Revelation 12:17
So rebellion started right in the church {1John 2:18-19} and majority began following the wrong group after the death of the Apostles that is how TRINITY was introduced which is Satan's gimmick of redirecting their zeal.
Jesus is not God but the Son of God. John 3:16

What is the implication of this?

As long as they believe Jesus to be God they won't see reasons to imitate him in thoughts words and actions {Hebrews 5:7} after all nobody can be like God but if they view him as Son of God then they will strive to imitate him just as God purposed {Matthew 17:5} so doing God's will which is the major thing that will bring salvation has become blurring to them and they forgot that Jesus himself did God's will. John 4:34; 5:30; 6:38
That's why Jesus said many will call him "LORD" but will be destroyed as they failed to do God's will! Matthew 7:21-23🤔
