Personnel and Financial Power
Nigeria maintains overwhelming dominance in manpower and funding. It commands a force of approximately 230,000 active personnel, backed by 50,000 paramilitary members, totaling over 280,000 personnel. Burkina Faso, in stark contrast, has only about 16,500 active personnel and 4,500 paramilitary members, making Nigeria’s force nearly 14 times larger. Financially, Nigeria’s defense budget is approximately $3.16 billion USD, which is roughly 38 times larger than Burkina Faso’s budget of $81.28 million USD.
You don't need to explain anything for mob you already understand their mind, so far, their agilutu man not in power, they must oppose everything called Nigeria.

If it's OBJ that is in power, the action would have been severed .

You go explain tire, wetin carry the Nigerian plane so deep into a sovereign country without authorisation? If only they have been caught around the Benin- Burkina Faso border, it would have been understandable but they went as far as almost entering Mali. They must explain what they're looking for in another country without informing them.
They already explained. So I guess what you really mean is they must give an explanation you like.

Whoever touches that guy's country touches Russia, there's no country that can harm Russia or whoever Russia wants to protect.

They locked in on our plane with surface to air missiles probably the S400 variant.l, if the pilot did not land they would have been searching for their body parts on the mountains by now.

I don’t understand, a very important aircraft that is very important in the war against terrorism somehow flew to Burkinafaso , now Traore got undue praises and attention of Nigerians on social media , and after massaging his pompous ego now willing to use that to negotiate, what majority of you don’t know is that a certain region in this country is more committed to Sahel allegiance than Nigeria Allegiance , they are usually seriously against every southern administration, ready to sabotage at all time, and will even beg Traore to seize the military plane as part of their smear campaign against the present administration
See the rubbish that you typed. Was it not the southern president that sent the military to Burkina Faso. Majority of Nigerians are happy with this development because your president is always ready to do Macron's biddings. To hell with Tinubu and Macron

OP. Don't be surprised by the Hate coming from your fellow Nigerians. These are the unpatriotic elements (especially from a particular section of the country) spewing forth negatives just to run the country down.
Their hatred for Tinubu translates to supporting Burkina Faso. See as they shamelessly support an illega junta holding 11 Nigerian soldiers captive.
You can't see such happening anywhere in the world except Nigeria. Ever since the successful thwarting of the Benin Rep coup, they've ramped up their vitriol on X, opening supporting Traore to imprison or even kill Nigerian soldiers.
Even if the Nigerian plane entered their airspace unannounced, does that give Burkina Faso the right to detain them this long just to show off bravado? No one is saying what Nigeria did was right but refusing international mediation for prompt release so as to milk the situation for what it's worth and show off as being a power is totally off it. Their time never reach.
Whatever you may think of Nigeria, Burkina Faso and the entire AES coalition is no match for us, Boko-haram or ISWAP be damned. Nigeria is the only regional superpower in West Africa and most of Sub Sahara Africa.
Nigeria won't be rushed into acting rashly. She will continue to pursue mediation and dialogue until that's longer becomes feasible, then Nigeria will act forcefully as it is her right to do so.
Anyone hoping or believing that Russia would join BF to fight Nigeria must be naive indeed.
Your crying is just starting.🤣🤣😂

As a Reminder, everywhere in the world their government always do their best to treat every citizen equal, unlike your Nigeria that targets and treat a section of the country unjustly.

Why Captain Ibrahim Traoré Is Playing with Fire by Detaining Nigerian Soldiers
Many people underestimate the capabilities of the Nigerian military and what it could mean for the government of Burkina Faso under Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

Don't be misled by Nigeria's ongoing internal security challenges—fighting Fulani herdsmen clashes, kidnappers, bandits, and jihadist insurgents in the North, or separatist agitation in the East involving IPOB and unknown gunmen. These are asymmetric insurgencies, complicated by local sympathies and complex socio-political dynamics that make total eradication difficult without massive collateral impact. No advanced military in the world easily wins such protracted internal wars.

In stark contrast, a direct confrontation with Burkina Faso would be conventional (symmetric) warfare. The Nigerian Armed Forces—Africa's largest by personnel, with superior airpower, logistics, and combat experience—have the overwhelming potential to overrun Burkina Faso's smaller military and, if provoked far enough, enforce regime change in Ouagadougou.

Dismiss any notion that Russia's support for Traoré would deter this. Nigeria could establish theater commands in neighboring countries like Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Benin, and Togo for a multi-front operation, leveraging regional alliances and superior resources.

This detention risks escalating a diplomatic incident into something far more dangerous. Traoré's supporters—often vocal online pan-Africanists and certain political factions—may cheer the bravado now, but they would have plenty to lament if things spiral out of control.

First, it's a shame that the over hyped military still can't fight asymmetric warfare in the 21st Century. Secondly, we have not still been told the truth about how we got into their airspace because the Portuguese government has not still bought our story. So, until the truth is out, our plane and soldiers might still be there.

What’s the relationship between Burkina Faso and Benin Republic, this why you failed in school, you are happy because a small Sahel nation seized your plane? Say it again

Every time some negative happens in your country, you roll out drums and celebrate, what’s wrong with you? Are you holding a Nigeria passport or a Chad passport?

Burkinafaso's military budget is technically more than Nigeria's budget because out of that fake 3.16 bullion you quoted ....3.1 billion usd has embezzled .....

You think Burkina will fight alone,Russia and other Anti-west countries will back them up and Nigeria will be on the loosing side because the military will be stretched thin, Nigerians know very liitle about war, moreover Nigeria is not capable of fighting wars at the moment because a lot of our corrupt politicians will see it as an avenue to get rich.
You think anti West countries like Russia and China don't have treaties with Nigeria. In fact, Russia and China stand to gain more from their ties with Nigeria than with Burkina Faso. The highest I see Putin doing is to negotiate a truce by asking Burkina Faso to release the Nigerian soldiers and plane. He knows he can't afford to lose the benefits of both countries. And moreover he already has a lot in his hands in form of Ukraine.

It's the other way around. It's Nigeria who is playing with fire. You forget that Burkina Fasso is not alone and is part of the Alliance of Sahel States, or AES, a Military confederation formed between Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, with a formal military cooperation agreement with Russia (Signed on August 14, 2025 in Russia). Please bear in mind that any attempt of military action against the Alliance of Sahel States will put the lives of the 11 Nigerian soldiers at risk

Burkina Faso dropping a single bomb in Ikeja and another in Abuja is enough to send Nigeria 50 years backwards. He who has alot to lose needs to be careful. Nigeria cannot be entering francophone African neighbours on the instructions of Macron. France is using Tinubu under proxy to control territories in Africa. Same way France sent Tinubu to restore France puppet in Benin Republic with Nigerian military 🪖. Tinubu government should be careful

Such belligerent tone as the ops makes a bad situation worse. An unfriendly country's airspace was violated by a military aircraft. In every sense of the word, it seems suspicious. At this time, Nigeria should opt for mediators to broker an agreement between the two parties.

In the first place, things shouldn't have been allowed to escalate to this level, no thanks to some ECOWAS govts who lick the shoes of macron. Burkina is a sovereign country, as well as Mali and Niger. They have an alienable right to opt for what is best for them diplomatically. Nigeria has to have the sense to play a diplomatic balancing act.

Burkina is a vast sahelian country, with terrains that are very much suitable for a failure in military occupation. Nigeria can give it a try.
What makes Nigeria unfriendly to Burkina Faso? Have we cut ties with them? Or you're not aware that the Burkinabe Embassy is still open on Abuja today?

Those men are being held as a bargaining chip. It's just unfortunate Tinubu refuses to be a strong leader.
