In the US, some states carry more electoral college votes than others. I don't know the calculation they used. But a state like Abuja and Lagos should carry more political weight than bayelsa or ebonyi or gombe. If we go with education criteria, then it's logical. You can't have a state where their cut off mark in Unity school across the federation is 2 carry the same weight as other states with 132 or 139. It shows the discrepancy in Level of literacy.

America got their independence in 1776, but na August, 1920 when their constitution allowed women to vote in an election. 144years gap.
The person you quoted said Rich people should only be allowed to vote

You are advocating for Educated people. Two different arguments, Chief

Wait I want to get something here . That Pastor they call Dr Chris Okafor just wants to get married ? Like he’s not been married for years ? I no really understand .

I’ve been seeing that guy’s poster on buses as far back as 10 years ago or more sef , so I’m assuming he’s been a pastor for longer years .

Is it not strange that he’s just getting married considering his age and his profession as a pastor ?

I think apart from Rev Fathers who took a sacred vow not to get married , a normal pastor should be married on time to reduce the chances of them sleeping with multiple women under their pastoral influence .
I'm surprised to hear that he is single.

And I am also not surprised if some sisters have been chopped

This was exactly why I spoke out the other time about people in authority going out with their subordinates. Most women will see a pastor telling them to leave their marriage as a direct order and prophecy from God. A pastor fornicating and have sexual images yet his church will still be packed to the brim filled with gullible worshippers. Nigerians and pastor worshipping is a very sickening phenomenon.

Okpa, you're wrong. Elder is wrong too.

Truly. there was a time in western democracies when voting rights were vested in the educated and wealthy. But that system was discontinued when they realized its flaws and the societal damage and fragmentation it caused.

Also, your US electoral college analogy is wrong. The EC is about weighted-equal representation of the American states in election outcomes and not a wealth filter for voters. It does not barr the poor from voting.

Biko, na big 2025 we dey. Make we no dey think backwards and dey use past societal injustice elsewhere to propose and justify voter exclusion in Nigeria.
The idea of electoral college votes in the US show that some states are more equal than others. Which automatically goes against the principles of democracy and rule of law. The electoral college votes attach more importance & voting rights to some states because you can literally win the majority votes in the USA & still lose the election.
Maybe you should check the definition of democracy.

It is not voter exclusion, you have to crawl before walking, you have to walk before running. How's it going for us in West Africa?. We literally copied the presidential system of government from America. Even America know say some states are more equal than others hence they introduced Electoral College Votes to distinguish boys from men.

If you win majority votes without winning the ELECTORAL COLLEGE VOTES, u don fail be that

I've stated it here clearly that in the past, European countries and even America disenfranchised her citizens based on class, educational qualifications, sex etc. These are countries who colonized Africa. Who gave us democracy.

CLASS & EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS go hand in hand in 20th century Europe.

You are envious. I set out to unravel you as such then dug up posts which fueled your motive.

Whe we see a woman pointing out the big butts and boobs of other women during arguments then we find out that same woman has been lamenting over the years about wanting to have a BBL and breast enlargement procedure, it's proof for why she deflects to point out the physical attributes of those women she criticizes, even when the issues have nothing to do with their butts.

Next time you bring up "abroadians", people know your reasons.

Case made. Point proven. 🙂
Wicked abroadian was a tongue in cheek jIbe by most...you linking it primarily to jealousy is grand revisionism.

Nihilist seems to be the demon you can't exorcise, very powerful he haunts you night and day. You see him practically in any thing that clashes with your beliefs, he's always in the shadows plotting, creating alternate monikers just to mock you and get under your skin. He enjoys tormenting you by playing hide and seek with different monikers and watching you try to unmask those monikers.

It's very accurate to say he lives rent free in your subconscious, a place you’ve turned into his comfort zone simply by the attention you keep feeding it. Ironically, starving him of that attention might make him disappear but your ability to see him in the shadows is just too strong.

To an outside observer like me, it’s a fascinating, almost tragic spectacle to behold every time.

You keep talking about my solution. Why don't you tell us what your own solution to the problem is?
Are you happy that people collect money to sell their votes?

You shouldn't be reacting the way you're reacting if you don't collect money to sell your vote.

Well, your comrades are the ones who help to announce fraudulent results, so it's not impossible for you to sell your vote.
Lol. Now you are throwing around cheap accusations of vote selling and election rigging just because I disagree with you. So by your logic, I.z.z.o u and other NLDers whose opinions differ from yours sell their votes too abi? Baba, try dey reason before you type. At this point, its embarrassing.

Now to the meat of the matter. You are proferring the wrong solution (barring poor people from voting) to our election issues because you are fingering the wrong factor (poverty) for the outcome of our elections.

What decides election outcomes in Nigeria are multifaceted and run deeper. For me, the major factors are:

1. Ethnicity and religious identity
2. Informal North/South power sharing arrangement.
3. Zoning of VP slot.
4 Perception of candidates incorruptibility (Think PMB and Peter Obi)
5. Party structure/Agents/Canvassers
6. Party affiliations and pre-election alignments.
7. Control of the security architecture i.e Police, DSS, NSCDC.
8. Influence over/Control of INEC
etc etc

All the above factors influence voting blocs, and election outcomes far more than individuals selling their votes because poor people do not vote as a bloc for one party.

Now, are there poor people who sell their votes during elections? A resounding YES. But their effect on the election outcome is negligible.

Now let me proffer some solutions and ideas.

1. Strip the GCFR of the powers to appoint the INEC Chairman, National commissioners and Resident Electoral commissioners. This should be done by a neutral non-partisan body or multi-stakeholders organization.

2. Harness and deploy technology. End manual accreditation, paper-based voting and collation. Our PVCs should be chipped like our ATM cards.

Adopt a complete electronic e-accreditation and voting system that transmits and computes votes automatically from the polling unit.

The idea I have for this are ATM-like Electronic Voting machines. Deploy/Install the EVMs in all the polling units in the country. All the parties and voters for individual polling units are pre-programmed into the system.

A voter steps up to the machine with his voters card, the card is accepted if its registered in the polling unit, accredited and the voting interface pops up, the voter scrolls and presses the party he's voting for and the vote is logged and the machine ejects the voters card. Repeat voting is also disallowed by the machine. This is just a rough idea but you get the point. Of course, the EVM will be programmed to work for a specified voting hours duration so when that time elapses, it locks up and ceases to allow voting.

Computation and synthesis of the party votes will be done by the Presiding Officer in the EVM with auto-stamped printout of the election results in the full glare of the party agents, and transmitted to the State Collation Center.

Also votes will be locked at source. Once votes are cast and transmitted, nothing should be editable at the ward, LGA or state level.

3. Pay INEC staff and electoral officers well. Those who err or compromise should be swiftly prosecuted and jailed.

4. Government should embark on aggressive orientation and civic education of the populace on the dangers and effects of vote buying/selling, and offenders should be fined heavily or do jail-time.

These are just some of the ideas in my head but make I stop here for now.

Finally, stripping the poor off voting tights will not improve election outcomes or governance. What will improve them is strengthening institutions, overhauling the entire voting/electoral process to discourage & minimize rigging, enhance transparency, make votes count, and holding bad actors accountable.

I know there'll be flaws in this system but its better than scapegoating and disenfranchising over 50% of eligible voters due to their account balance.

Nigeria is speedily headed to a one party state. The truth is they don't need to rate us cos we gan no rate ourselves. We like to carry ourselves as people with morals, culture and value but the results are not there. When you have consistently a people that would rather perform religion instead of just being their brother's keeper. In a truly godly country a Tinubu and APC simply would not be in charge of the show

There would be a top to bottom effort to ensure they are removed but Nigeria has too many compromised kneegros. When you have them in such high concentration there's no how they won't get to sensitive positions, we have a Minister of Technology claim bandit (mind you bandit is not their real name,we know what it is) phones are hard to triangulate, Bear in mind Nigeria is not even the top 3 biggest country in West Africa alone, I mean we had a Rev Fr deny genocide of adherents of his own faith. That is how far he was willing to betray his people, multiply all these compromised kneegros by all 36 states and Nigeria is the result
Omo..that barefaced lie from that minister is where you will know that our govt doesnt want to fight or nab these terrorists. I mean look how this guy went publicly to spew this lie to millions of people . A lie that can easily be bursted. The govt really no rate Nigerians. Tribal differences qont let Nigerians unite against them.

They can track anyone that insults them online, but cant track bandits brandishing sophisticated weapons openly.

"In stark contrast, a direct confrontation with Burkina Faso would be conventional (symmetric) warfare. The Nigerian Armed Forces—Africa's largest by personnel, with superior airpower, logistics, and combat experience—have the overwhelming potential to overrun Burkina Faso's smaller military and, if provoked far enough, enforce regime change in Ouagadougou".

The above looks like a narrative from OasiX WhatsApp group. I remember when OasiX told us that Amotekun alone will overrun Niger🇳🇪. Please before you guys want to use force on Burkina Faso, you should note the followings.

>Nigeria violated the airspace of Burkina Faso. Burkina have every right to detain the military aircraft and the soldiers. I remember when Turkey shot down a Russian military aircraft & killing the crew for the same airspace violation.

> Burkina Faso is not alone. They have alliance with Niger & Mali. Other military regime in Africa will offer support because if ECOWAS succeed in doing regime change in Sahel region. Their own government is under threat.

> Presence of Wagner. Just like Tinubu said that Benin Republic government invited them to intervene to restore order. Russian forces are stationed in Niger, Mali and Faso on the orders of their respective government.

> S-300 in Niger. Russian S-300 AIR defense systems are stationed in Niger🇳🇪. So they have the military capability to bring down our jets not just in their airspace but inside Nigerian territory.

> The North will not support such move. They share the biggest land border with Niger. Even cultural and Religious sentiments. So on the home front, you already have a divided population.

Thank you for your attention on this matter..

I’ve already said it that only diplomatic solution can bring those military men detained in Burkina Faso home .

All these grandstanding by our government officials and their fan boys on Twitter will not yield anything positive . Propaganda won’t suddenly make the Military government in Burkina Faso release our compatriots in their custody .

All these ones wey una Dey talk no concern me .

Yesternight some employees in this same Nigeria became billionaires by virtue of being employees of a company that values its staff and their loyalty over the years .

BUA Group owned by Rabiu Abdulsamad gifted a whopping sum of N30 billion to a number of staff in appreciation for their long service to the group .

On my WhatsApp timeline , a lady banker who was present at the event posted on her status a number of people who got bumper bonus for their long service (see attached screenshot).

Imagine people getting 1billiion , 500 million and 250 million from their employers . Omo ! 😲

And then there’s Dangote that is paying his staff peanuts and still prevents them from unionizing to fight for better staff welfare . 🤦‍♂️
