Once upon a time, everybody wanted to be in PDP. It even got so bad that at one point a PDP official made the prediction that PDP would rule for the next 2500...sorry 25 years. And the oppostion was in disarray.

Well,we know how the constant defections turned out. By 2014, the PDP was split from within, plus the idea that the North thought it was its turn, plus the splits within the party, and the result was the loss of the 2015 elections (which could have STILL been won if Benue PDP was united, not divided).and so forth.

I see a lot of APC members gloating about the defections to their party. Well, all I got to say is, the more people defect to the APC, the higher the chances of APC imploding. I mean APC nearly collapsed in 2023, if not for buhari essentially telling his supporters to observe party discipline...even then many of them voted for Atiku. Now everyone is cheering as this governor defects to APC.

Well, know that the governor is defecting to a party where his enemies are. And in satisfying everyone now, problems will arise.

And yes, it can cause implosion of the party...like PDP

I am not saying that APC should stop defectors...the problem with Nigerian politicans is they always want to be on the winning side, including those who are still in the oppostion. But at the end, it no go end well.

An APC implosion would be catastrophic. My only concern is the adverse effect it would have on governance. It has not imploded yet, and the country is already being poorly and badly governed. We can only imagine the situation if it does.

The defections are not going to cause any implosion. The new members would be integrated into the party structure which would be done gradually.

You guys keep making this mistake of assuming apc is like pdp , from the days of 2014 merger apc is a party that doesn't tolerate party indiscipline , it's a strict code and everyone is allowed or expected to play their part to make the party a success, indiscipline is the bane of other parties , just today alone accord party is having 2 factions claiming right of way for osun governoship aspirant.

Such rubbish cant happen in apc ,wen you feel too big you are shown the way out and the party replaces you ASAP, ask el rufai what happened to him or saraki .

Opposition were not in disarray during PDP reign. We had the best opposition from ACN led by Tinubu and CPC led by Buhari, the opposition then were focus, pragmatic and strategic, they didn't jump ship, and they formed a formidable coalition, they sponsored, Civil right groups, organized protests, infiltrate labour union, and accommodate those who had issue with PDP then.

Their SM and media onslaught were intentional, precise and direct, they planned long term and used their resources to pursue a united front.

The opposition today lack leadership, cohesion, and direction, their SM campaign is the worst in the history of Nigeria. They can't displaced the ruling party.

Nobody is gloating over the defections. Everyone is just looking and waiting.
