You don't debate yourself and call others illiterate. I feel so sad for people like you who may have little academic qualifications and believe your points are superior to others.I may not be his fan, but he asked an important question. I would advise you not to be too quick to call people illiterate because you are not literate enough to philosophise a burning question.Your writings appear superficial, filled with holes.
He just doesn't know how to pass his message, This expatriate most time start their career here, learn on the job and after they know the job, they sack the black man occupying the position. These expatriate are not paid in Naira but in Dollar. Imagine a Lebanese getting close to 700USD/month for an low managerial role, convert it to Lebanese Dollar. Mind you Naira has more value than Lebanese Dollars.

We have no Labour law in Nigeria, this companies cheat Nigerians. You see an Expatriate who is an Engineer and a Nigeria who is an Engineer with top qualification getting paid 7x lower than a Lebanese that went to a technical school who is still learning on the job.

Shehu Sanni has very low IQ. The Chinese, Lebanese and Indians you see are sponsored by Nigerian elites. The elites MANIPULATE the expatriate quitas to suit themselves. These elites like Shehu Sanni would prefer to partner with these Chinese, Indians and Lebanese than their fellow Nigerians.
When one of the companies in Agbara estate was up for sale, some young entrepreneurs were interested in taking over, having worked there and managed the place. Do you know what, an Indian in cooperation with some rich Nigerians who stole and keep stealing our common wealth bought it. They would rather employ the Indiabs and pay expatriates in $ than Nigerians.

Secondly, I know a Nigerian who was Financial Controller for over a year in a company. He was not given an official car, rather a mere car grant.
Immediately, the guy left and japaed the sane company employed an Indian who was housed in Ikoyi, given an official brand new SUV with a driver and his wife provided a brand new Sedan and a driver for school and house run. Meanwhile, when the Nigerian was there, the company did not see his value. Why, because he is a Nigerian.

Simply put, Nigerians are:

- Tribalistic and value coloured skin than their prople: Would not offer another tribe man the opportunity. Where they do, they find ways and means to frustrate him Check out UAC andcread their Tribalistic stories.
- Nigerians suffer from inferiority complex. They will prefer an "Indian or Chine expert" than locals, who does the real work. This I know for sure. It is the Nigerians that manage ALL governmental relationships.
-An Indian with just a "pirated business proposal" can source millions from our banks, yet a Nigerian with collateral would not. Reason, our banks are also Nigerians.

Unfortunately, if you go to India, China or Lebanon, Nigerians CANNOT own nor operate a business by themselves. NEVER.
I challenge Shehu Sanni to name those stealing the gold in Zamfara. Are they Nigerians or expatriates in collusion with Nigerian Thieving politicians.
Only God knows what today’s youths are smoking and drinking. This one whose IQ is at negative level is saying someone who is his father’s age mate and who has seen more than he can ever see in his life time has low IQ

How can we see good opportunities in our own country when we allow leaders looters to emerge from among us for the purpose of taxing us to death, to share among themselves as the national cake, on the basis of tribal rotation and regional zoning huh

How is that possible sir?

chisomkachy:
Nigerian President Bola Tinubu’s first supplementary budget includes a fleet of SUVs for himself and his wife, a presidential yacht and the renovation of his villa amid a cost-of-living crisis for some of the poorest people in the world.

The proposal — which seeks additional funding beyond the annual budget approved by Tinubu’s predecessor — comes as the government asks Nigerians to persevere through pain caused in part by a raft of economic reforms ushered in by the new president. Africa’s most populous country faces rampant unemployment, soaring food prices and a plummeting currency.

Federal lawmakers approved the president’s request for extra spending on Thursday, but eliminated the provision of 5 billion naira ($6.01 million) to buy a presidential yacht. Instead, they doubled the allocation to a student loan fund to 10 billion naira, according Abubakar Bichi, chairman of an appropriations committee in the House of Representatives.

The lawmakers approved 1.5 billion-naira proposed to purchase SUVs for the office of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu — an amount larger than that allocated to many individual federal colleges. The supplementary budget also proposes almost 6 billion naira to purchase SUVs for the presidency — more than the amount initially allocated to fund a student loan program for poor families.

Nigeria is a poor country rich with some natural mineral resources and governed by the most corrupt Nigerians who managed to fight their corrupt way to the top.

These people parading themselves as leaders in Nigeria lack vision, their only interest is how to enrich themselves, their family members, close friends, political associates, political sycophants that help them hold on to power, and because of this, the wealth from the mineral resources of Nigeria is hijacked by the ruling class and some privileged entrepreneurs. All these and more made Nigeria and Nigerians more miserable as corruption becomes institutionalized in Nigeria, causing hardship, illiteracy, mass youth unemployment, underemployment and complete idleness.

But then, due to high level of illiteracy, fear of future/old age, Islamic religion, etc., Nigeria have enormous population who are mostly young people. This population means needs that must be met whether they are poor or rich; they must feed, cloth, shelter, merry and sorrow, which creates opportunities for products and services to be rendered to solve the problems and needs of the enormous population of Nigeria.

As a Nigerian youth, when you notice these needs and opportunities, you wish to startup a business or service rendering to meet these peoples needs in exchange for money, but then you dont have the money to get you started, in some cases, you dont have the skill or technical know how to render the services and you need to survive. What do you do? And you hear about another country that have lots of well paying jobs that dont even require much skill and when you check the exchange rate, if you earn little there it can be sent back to Nigeria and quadrupled, what would you do? Immigrate to that country asap to start working to earn consistent income that will enable you live your dream life.

On the contrary, Chinese and Indians come from a country doing better than Nigeria, they know there are numerous problems in Nigeria they can offer Solutions to and build a business or company around it, they come equipped from their country. Chinese government for instance give Chinese investors huge capital for business, and they also come equipped with the skills and technical know how, so its usually easy for them to startup a new business in Nigeria.

So in summary, Nigerians need to japa to work in already established businesses to enable them save before talking about starting their own business. But Indians and Chinese only come to Nigeria to do business and go, so they come equipped with their capital, skill and technical know how. So it's not as if Nigerians aren't seeing the opportunities, they are seeing it but only those that have the capital, skill and technical know how can startup a business.

Don't mind sheu, I used to admire him but since he joined APC he has become a shadow of himself
The Nigerian system elevates foreigners over its citizens, look at the police, the banks give loans more easily to these people than will give to Nigerians even on a more Liberal terms
An example is the Etisalat deal, where these people came. In borrowed from our banks to buy the company, latter took their profit and left ,leaving the company and the debt behind .

You haven't worked in companies why you are saying this. These Nigerian investors source for Expatriate. And sometimes this Expatriate will recommend themselves after they go to technical school. This Happened in Jubaili, they will recruit a Black man as Manager, bring in like 2 Expatriate to learn from this black manager. After they learn the work for 6 months, they sack the black man they put this 2 Expatriate to head department. Take in another Black man who knows SOP and R and D then bring in few expatriate sack the black man again, let the new expatriates to head a department or send to other branch. Go to these companies a black manager don't spend more than 6 months while the Black Supervisors Slaves there. Sometimes Black Supervisors get sacked because they get increment, so they find people who will take peanut again. Ask how Supervisors in this company pray not to get increment because of fear of being sacked

Shehu Sani’s question misses the real issue.

Nigerians are not blind to opportunities in their own country. The problem is not a lack of vision by Nigerians, but a flawed political and economic structure created by our form of federalism and sustained by poor leadership.

Nigeria claims to operate a federal system modeled after the United States, yet refuses to practice it in full. Resources are centralized at the federal level and redistributed politically, rather than allowing regions to control and develop their own wealth. This distortion of true federalism creates an uneven playing field.

Foreigners—Chinese, Indians, and Lebanese—do not succeed in Nigeria because they “see better” than Nigerians. They succeed because the system favors those with access to centralized power, capital, and government connections concentrated in Abuja. Many of them can fly directly into the capital, secure contracts, licenses, and protection, and dominate sectors before local people even have a chance.

If power and resources were genuinely devolved to the regions and grassroots, the story would be different. Opportunities would be closer to the people, local industries would thrive, and Nigerians would not need to flee abroad in search of dignity and stability.

No foreigner will casually walk into villages, towns, and local economies to exploit opportunities where power truly belongs to the grassroots. Centralization is what makes this possible.

So the issue is not that Nigerians fail to recognize opportunities at home. The issue is a political structure that concentrates power at the centre and excludes ordinary citizens.

In this context, Shehu Sani is chasing shadows, not addressing the root cause.

Buhari called youths lazy, leaves record number jobless

In 2018, President Muhammadu Buhari claimed that Nigeria’s youth want to “sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare, education free”, sparking an outcry on social media under the banner #LazyNigerianYouths.

Less than six days to the end of his reign, findings have shown millions of youths are yet to secure employment despite promises to create jobs.

President Buhari was asked a question after a keynote speech at a Commonwealth event in London, six years ago.

“We have a very young population. More than 60 percent of the population is below the age of 30. A lot of them haven’t been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria has been an oil-producing country, therefore they should sit and do nothing and get housing, healthcare, and education free,” he answered.

Many Nigerians inferred from the comments that he was branding the nation’s youth as lazy.

Using the hashtag #LazyNigerianYouth on social media, Nigerians expressed their anger with the comments, which many said did not reflect the entrepreneurial drive of young people in the country.

Young people in Nigeria face chronic unemployment and underemployment, so the president’s remarks hit raw nerves in a country where many are struggling in a tough economic climate.

Some said Buhari, missed an opportunity during the panel to sell the potential of Nigeria’s human capital and largely young demography to an overseas audience.

“It was a pure undiluted gaffe especially with a foreign audience you are telling to come and invest in your country,” Uche Enechi said in a Facebook comment. “Normally, a president will say, ‘come and invest here because we have a youthful, skilled and hardworking labor force that you need, plus a secure and business friendly environment.’ He just said the opposite.”

Data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) show that the unemployment rate quadrupled to 33.3 percent as of the fourth quarter of 2020 from 8.2 percent in Q2 2015.

This means that the number of people without jobs rose by 280.3 percent to 23.2 million from 6.1 million, throwing millions of people into poverty.

Moses Ojo, a Lagos-based economic analyst, said the increased number of unemployed persons indicates low individual productivity, which has led to an increase in poverty and also in criminal activities.

Now I better understand how it came to be that gold, tantalite and lithium are all being "illegally" mined in northern Nigeria by the usual suspects who convey the precious metals extracted from those mines aboard fleets of helicopters that also ferry into Nigeria infantry weapons to arm Islamists then tasked with evacuating villages at gunpoint to make way for more "illegal" mining.

The entire racket is quietly legitimized by shadowy figures in the periphery of power at the federal level.

It just so happens that college-educated Nigerians rank among America's most prosperous immigrant categories, with a large population of Nigerian dollar-millionaires residing in the Houston area. Your observation that such successful blacks might be resented by blue-collar whites whose earning power is limited by their failure to capitalize on the educational opportunities in America, is valid and true.

It is important to note, however, that these expatriate Nigerian success stories in America are NOT the result of Nigerians emigrating to the US and defrauding the welfare system as has been seen on a widespread basis within Minnesota's Somali community. Likewise no Nigerian immigrant to the USA ever secured favorable business privileges by bribing government officials in the manner that the Chinese, Lebanese and Indians have been routinely doing for YEARS in Nigeria.

Your hasty conclusion that residents of any given country that are poor will envy those who are wealthy might be true in a general sense, yet is of debatable relevance to the theme of this discussion, which is that foreigners are FAVORED over Nigerians by biased policies of the Nigerian government AND of private industry.

Bitter truth: northerners prefer foreigners to other Nigerians who are not of the same tribe or religion.
