The United States President, Donald Trump, has described the death of Hollywood director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, as “tortured and struggling” following reports of the couple being found dead in their Los Angeles home.

Trump in a social media post on Monday referenced Reiner’s history of public criticism toward him, framing the deaths in the context of what he described as a personal and political affliction.

He wrote “A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS. He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before”

He concluded the post by offering a message of sympathy, writing “May Rob and Michele rest in peace”

According to The Associated Press, Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, 68, were found dead at their Brentwood residence on Sunday, 14 December 2025.

Emergency responders discovered the couple after a call to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division opened an investigation, treating the deaths as an apparent homicide.

Investigators say both victims had injuries consistent with stab wounds, and a family member was being questioned as part of the inquiry.

Reiner gained fame as an actor on All in the Family before directing acclaimed films including This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, Stand By Me, and When Harry Met Sally… His wife Michele worked in photography and film production.

Tributes have been issued by colleagues and public officials commemorating their contributions to film and the arts.

Members of his party are now trying to disobey him and counter him because he is now a political liability that will cost them seats in the midterm elections early next year which will switch the legislature in favor of Democrats.
