NIGERIA POLICE FORCE ANNOUNCES RESUMPTION OF ENFORCEMENT OF TINTED GLASS PERMIT

The Nigeria Police Force wishes to inform the general public of the planned resumption of the enforcement of Tinted Glass Permit policy pending the final determination of the matter currently before the court. This decision follows a careful review of emerging security concerns and the need to ensure the safety of all citizens.

It is important to clarify that at no point did the court restrain the Nigeria Police Force from enforcing the provisions of the law regarding the use of tinted glass on vehicles. Nonetheless, in the spirit of responsibility, transparency, and public convenience, the Force suspended enforcement to allow motorists ample opportunity to regularise their documentation and complete the registration process without pressure.

Recent trends, however, reveal a disturbing rise in criminal activities perpetrated with the aid of vehicles fitted with unauthorised tinted glass. Some individuals and organised criminal groups have exploited this gap to conceal their identities and facilitate crimes ranging from armed robbery to kidnapping and other violent crimes. In view of this, the Nigeria Police Force has found it both necessary and urgent to resume full enforcement as a proactive measure to safeguard our communities. Consequently, enforcement of Tinted Glass Permit will resume on 2nd January, 2026.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, assures the public that the renewed enforcement will be carried out with utmost professionalism, respect for the rights of citizens, and in accordance with extant laws. He adds that the Force remains committed to promoting public safety and upholding the rule of law while working collaboratively with all stakeholders to keep Nigeria secure.

Meanwhile, motorists who require the Tinted Glass Permit are encouraged to apply through the approved channels and ensure that their vehicles comply with legal procedures.

How will the issuance of tinted permit to motorists stop the kidnapping? I don't understand these people, would a kidnapper be identified once he goes to signup for a permit or how would they identify a kidnapper and non-kidnapper in tinted cars.

The police just wants to make money at all costs.

If their concern is truly insecurity, then they should make the tinted permit free of charge, so that nobody will complain and we'll know that only criminals are avoiding the permit...

Till then, it's just another avenue to siphon cash and generate revenue by the NPF 😏

Since the matter is before the court, whats the desperation for exactly .. if NIN, BVN didnt mitigate fraud or crime what can Tinted permit solve

how does having a Tinted permit stop kidnapper or bandit or terrorism ravaging the country its annoying how govt n police keeps insulting our intelligence

No one knows what the judgement will be, those who apply and pay for the permit should court verdict invalidate the process .. what happens to the money paid, will there be a refund .. its just common sense to wait let court decide 1st

Where the school children kidnapped in a tinted car, those kidnapped in eruku kwara was it tinted car that made they get away ... the police are just desperate to extort Nigerians for nothing

Resumption of enforcement. Was the enforcement suspended? Does a directive or order have stop date? Did it go on holiday break? Police should reduce the volume. Stop embarrassing itself 🤡

Nigeria police don vex o and na citizen go suffer am. Since the police were instructed to stop guarding VIP, the anger just increased like Nigeria debts. They have been planning ways of fixing the hole created by stopping of VIP escorts and guardians and one of the results is bringing up of Tinted glass permit and enforcement. We should be expecting more illegal revenue techniques collection from the police soon. More to come soon...just be alive....

Why does Tint permit be that expensive? And why does it have to be renewed every year?

This is a case of police turning to criminals mhen!

This man sha must insist on this tinted glass issue, Nigerians have said they do not want yet this IG insists on forcing Nigerians to pay thousands of naira for revenue generation. Go and check you will see a "consultant" set up this revenue generation and is remitting heavy money to some Ogas at the top. Imagine all vehicles including those with factory tint having to get permit.
