Private Depot Owners Slash Petrol Price from ₦828 to ₦710 per Litre (₦118 Cut) After Dangote Refinery Reduction

Private petroleum depot owners in Lagos have reduced the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS, commonly known as petrol) by ₦118 per litre approximately 14% in response to recent price cuts by the Dangote Refinery.

Market surveys on December 15, 2025, showed major private depots dropping their PMS prices to ₦710 per litre, down from an average of ₦828 per litre a week earlier on December 8.

Specific price adjustments include:
- Menj Depot: From ₦828 to ₦710 per litre
- Integrated Depot: From ₦826 to ₦710 per litre
- Bovas Depot: From ₦826 to ₦710 per litre
- A.A. Rano Depot: From ₦829 to ₦710 per litre

The reduction was driven by competition from Dangote Refinery-linked marketers offering petrol at around ₦703 per litre. A depot operator noted: “The Lagos market reacts faster because Dangote’s prices are cheaper here. Once Dangote marketers began selling around ₦703 per litre, it became difficult to move volumes at higher prices.”

Private depots initially tried to hold prices near ₦800 per litre, but slow sales and the threat of stock buildup forced them to align with Dangote's lower rates.

The price cut is likely to intensify competition and could lead to further reductions during the holiday season if Dangote sustains its supply and pricing approach.

All of this is to the advantage of the customer. The NNPC should regulate on quantity and quality now. Price is an issue, but more on the right quality and quantity.

Is the quality of the imported fuel high-quality? Are filling stations dispensing the right quantity?

Competition is good as much as the quality of the products are viable....

Buying cheaper product with less quality will tell on the users...

Oga you are not making sense!

Nigeria have no business buying fuel over 500 naira per liter. Don't come here creating a false and demonic sense or impression that Nigerians are ok with the current pump price.

710 naira for a liter is still very high for Nigerians!

Don't deceive yourself, the quality of the imported fuel can never be high, it is most likely a product of blending. 2 weeks ago I bought fuel that stank all the way to the high heavens, you start the engine smell will enter the car, near the tank too was stinking, certainly that was imported fuel and it burns fast.

Lol. Dangote will be seething with rage right now
It's obvious he's manipulating the market with the intent to price the importers out of the market but those ones have already outsmarted him
He's a greedy as they are and they are ready to match him greed for greed . If not can anyone explain to me what shifted that made Dangote drop price from over N800 to less than N700?
It shows he was also robbing Nigerians until he heard of the import licenses and decided to crash the market. We've been buying fuel at 950 for over 3 months!!

You really want transporters to go broke too? Remember they are under the same tinubu economy as you are.

Now we are talking. It's getting better. But I hope it doesn't go back after the festivities.

I'm not a Tinubu fan, but he did well removing subsidy. Our pms will eventually be one of the cheapest globally.

I hope transporters will comply... You'll see how greedy men can be. Prices of commodities should come down more.

What you're experiencing has nothing to do with low quality fuel

If you're having peppery eyes while driving your car, your exhaust is leaking and your fuel would drain faster whether it's low or high quality fuel.. Take it to a panel beater

Damgote is frustrated because the government is not banning fuel import. If the government ban import as advise by damgote we would have been buying fuel 1500 by now.

All you want is a corrupt government support and give them kick back for every litre.

But unfortunately the current government is still in the business. Oando is importing and bought refinery oversea and now planing to build local one.

The oil business is too big to be given to one man. He will grow too big and bigger than the state. Na oil business you Wan take play

Why not tell them to get the fuel for free.......do you even have any idea of the cost component of pms......diesel prices have equally being going down but you fail to acknowledge these positive developments so you don't look foolish after all you and your anti tinubu ilk doomsday prophecies " petrol will still get to 2,500 per liter" "petrol will become unaffordable and life will be unbearably hard for Nigerians because of tinubu policies"now look at how you are being disgraced by the same man you love to hate.....as you have wished urself, life can keep being unbearable for you while we keep enjoying these positives in the economy

Nigerian factor wouldn't allow those drivers to respond to the cut in pump price. Drivers would always have reason not to reduce price.
