The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Kano has alerted the Federal Government over the imminent fuel crisis in the country following the decision by some private depot owners to unilaterally raise the prices of the product.

The IPMAN chairman Kano chapter, Alhaji Bashir Danmallam, stated this in a statement issued in Kano on Friday.

He said some of the private depot owners had increased the price of the commodity from N148 per litre to between N153 and N155 per litre since Friday last week.

He said the association found it necessary to alert the government in order not to blame its members if they increase the price of the commodity as they would not operate at loss.

“Some private depot owners are trying to sabotage the Federal Government by unilaterally increasing their prices even though the government has not raised the fuel pump price.

“We are equally calling on the Management of the NNPC to investigate the issue as some of the private depot owners have since Friday last week increased the price from N148 per litre to between N153 and N155 per litre. We know it’s only the Federal Government that imports fuel into the country.

“As I am talking to you private depot owners in Warri, Calabar Lagos and Oghara in Delta State have increased their prices. We hope the management of the NNPC will investigate and intervene,” Danmalam said.

He also accused the private depot owners of trying to cause a fuel crisis in the country by closing the depots as the end of the year is fast approaching to maximize profit.

He said the association would not fold its arms and allow such unpatriotic private depot owners to engage in unnecessary price increase while the public is always accusing their members of flagrant increase in fuel prices.

Lalasticlala

Unless we are being hypocrites and dishonest to ourselves and acting dumb and senile like Buhari, these depot owners have the right to increase prizes.
Electricity power they use in running their depots has seen an increase in bill, transport cost has increased, goods and services the owners patronise have all seen large increase in prices.
Every business in Nigeria even those not impacted by the failed policies/no policies of the cattle rearer have genuinely or artificially increased the prices of their goods and services,so why should these depot owners be the exception?
Finally, the Naira has become almost useless so they have had to pay several million extra dollars to buy fuel.
If Nigerians want to allow Buhari to complete the last remaining months of his monumentally failed rule, then everyone should be ready to continue crying blood.

Did this man not say private owners? Is he expecting the government to regulate the price? They are not "Not for Profut" as such, whatever would pay the owners is what they would do. It isn't compulsory people buy from them.

We really need to do something to fix the many things that isn't working in our country.
We can only but pray that God intervenes through the heart of well meaning Nigerians to one day turn things around for the better.

Masses are not scared of any fuel crisis or hike, no be today.

Masses are used to hardship and suffering, if fuel price go up to N250 Naira. Masses will only talk for a while and find a way to adapt to the new suffering

Nothing special

This is imminent when you have a government that doesn't know its onions.

PPPRAA, (Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency) that was saddled with regulating ex-depot price of fuel was scrapped by the incumbent government and despite series of assurances of putting another body in place, nothing has been done. Which is why is it easy for any marketers to wake up and increase prices unilaterally
