Trump More Than Happy With Our Refinery — Dangote by dre11(op): 3:28am On Dec 16, 2025
Nigerian billionaire and President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has dismissed claims that the United States is opposed to the operations of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, stating that US President Donald Trump is, in fact, “more than happy” with the facility.

Dangote explained that the United States is not a rival to the refinery but one of its major beneficiaries, as it supplies a significant volume of crude oil to the plant.

The oil giant added that the scale of the business involved making trade relationship mutually beneficial.

Speaking during a press briefing on Sunday at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lekki, Lagos State, Dangote revealed that the facility continues to depend on imported crude oil due to Nigeria’s inability to meet domestic supply demands.

According to him, inadequate local crude production has forced Nigeria to source oil from neighbouring African countries such as Ghana, as well as from the United States.

“We are not getting enough crude, so that’s why we buy from Ghana and a few other African countries. We also buy from the US,” he said.

Dangote further described the United States as one of Nigeria’s major crude oil suppliers and rejected reports suggesting that Trump is unhappy with the refinery’s operations or its funding structure.

He noted that the US benefits substantially from the trade arrangement, given the large volume of crude oil Nigeria imports annually.

“The US has been one of our major suppliers of crude, which is why when someone says Trump is not happy with our refinery, it’s not true. Trump is more than happy with our refinery because of the scale of business involved,” Dangote said.

He added that Nigeria purchases an average of over 100 million barrels of crude oil from the United States each year, with the potential for the volume to rise to about 200 million barrels annually if supply is doubled.

Dangote also disclosed that Nigeria supplies the US with aviation fuel and gasoline, underscoring the reciprocal nature of the energy trade relationship between both countries.

Re: Trump More Than Happy With Our Refinery — Dangote by malali: 6:34am On Dec 16, 2025
NMDPRA can’t just sell all Nigerian crude to Dangote

1. Regulatory mandate & legal duty
• Farouk is legally bound by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and other statutes to manage allocation of crude and refined products impartially.
• Selling all government crude to a single company would violate competition laws, procurement regulations, and PIA provisions.

2. Market stability & national interest
• Nigeria must maintain a diversified supply chain to avoid monopolies and ensure price stability for domestic consumers.
• Allocating all crude to Dangote could trigger fuel shortages, inflation, or public backlash if the refinery fails to process/distribute efficiently.

3. Transparency & accountability
• As a public servant, Farouk must justify allocations to government, parliament, and audit agencies. Any favoritism could be legally challenged or politically risky.

4. Avoiding monopoly & price manipulation
• Selling exclusively to Dangote would enhance Dangote’s market dominance, potentially creating a de facto monopoly in refined products. Regulators aim to prevent this.

5. Political and international scrutiny
• International lenders, investors, and trading partners monitor allocations; any perceived favoritism could jeopardize loans, investment guarantees, and Nigeria’s credit rating.

Dangote Refinery remains a private entity,in as much as it serves Nigerians. Nigeria can decide to sell its feedstock crude oil to Dangote or not. Its national decision.
NMDPRA should treat Dangote refinery, like any other buyer. Dangote too should sell petrol at open fair market prices. If the governement approaches him for lower prices,he should then negotiate crude sales with them.
Also crude oil is Nigeria's main revenue generator for the whole 250 million Nigerians. So its a matter of national security to sell all to one private entity. Thats not a good national security option if you ask me.

Terrorist sponsors are telling you gullible Nigerians that USA is not happy about our refinery so they can sway the public against USA’s effort to assist in killing bandits.

Let me educate u Nigeria. There is nothing Trump hates more than immigrants coming to his country. And he knows that any country that is destabilized, their citizens will want to move to the USA, so republicans and republican presidents will do anything in their power to make sure Nigeria is not destabilized.

Now Democrats are different. The more they destabilize other countries, the more they can take in their citizens, care for them, feed them, house them, so they can vote democrats in the future. That is how democrats secure votes.

Now you know the difference between the two parties.

I watched a documentary on YouTube that ExxonMobil just discovered a new technology to double United States Shale oil production without drilling new wells.

This means that by 2026 the US will double it's daily crude oil production if President Trump approves it.

Smh.

US produces far more crude than Nigeria and all of Africa combined yet it still imports crude from all over the world including Nigeria.

If you don't devote time to get good education you will just be sounding ignorant on topics above your level of comprehension.

Lazy pople who have poor education can take time away from the idleness on social media to go to school and get education first before they post comments that attract curses which will follow them all around for the rest of their miserable lives.

Those who curse Nigeria will be cursed and those who bless Nigeria will be blessed.

It is not by force to comment on treads like this when you can please go to the romance section abeg.

NNPC supplying our country should be first and when that happens, thing will shape in well, let me ask u a question:
What's the difference selling to another country and selling to ur own country that needs it more, is it not same money that they will collect?

Our country's government template is tied to theirs, presidential system of government we operate even tho it's a pseudo one, is a direct replica of America's own.

Your financial institutions take every advice, loan, economic policies from them, hook line and sinker.

The currency base of our international trade is their currency.

The weapons our military uses to fight battles is gotten from them.

Don't even get me started on the location your politicians hide their pilfered funds.

Our whole economy is tied to their apron string like a tail to a dog 🐶
How on God's green earth do you expect us not to seek validation from themhuh

If Washington sneezes tomorrow then the whole Abuja will catch severe cold.

These are just lies to keep the citizens divided. The truth is the American economy would be absolutely nothing without immigrants. They call it the land of the free for a reason. Even the American first lady is an immigrant and DT accelerated her citizenship due to $$$$ wey him get. Trump is German by ancestry. This makes him a product of immigrants.

Also if there is instability or insurrection in any country on the planet, the US knows well about it. Don't be naive

I am also tired of the fake and nonsense marriage we have in Nigeria, but not hating. When good things happen, some people just don't want to see them. Infact, they pray for bad things because they just hate everything. Na we talk say make dem lose biafra war? Personally, I don't know what Nigeria is holding to them they should let them go. The majority of the oil we have is not from their region.

While some Nigerians especially south are planning to also explore and gain from the northern uranium and lithium, these ones are just plain illiterates hating. Let the south also gain from the money they will get from the uranium and lithium innthe north. Or they want to be unfortunate to leave Nigeria when they are suppose to make money too from others resources. If Igbo wan commot, make dem go ooo.

As much as I do not support Tinubu, I like his idea of quickly opening the lithium mining in some northern sites. Let the south also make money there. Dem go understand how e dey feel. A good northerner is telling you this. The south needs to stay and enjoy uranium and lithium money too. Why run now? Why una think the north is being arrogant now and wouldn't mind leaving? They gat the next energy for the next 100 years. Why would the south allow them to use their charcoal and oil and doesnt want to enjoy the norther uranium and lithium? Omoh eh. A no understand some people ooo.
