How will the issuance of tinted permit to motorists stop the kidnapping? I don't understand these people, would a kidnapper be identified once he goes to signup for a permit or how would they identify a kidnapper and non-kidnapper in tinted cars.

The police just wants to make money at all costs.
very valid n questions you asked here and observation...

Lol, there’s a particular reason why your comment seems funny to me bro. As I scroll through the comments, a majority of people seem to be opposing this directive quite vocally, but your comment is notably the first among them that takes the opposing stance. While I am certainly not obligated to hold any particular view on your opinion, it reminds of a popular saying that; When police stop you for road and him de spend unusually long time checking and asking you for every party-cola, just know say that police na Idoma man. Them say na we de carry government matter for head pass. Is it really true?

If the issue is truly about security, the tint permit should be free or cost no more than ₦2,000. Additionally, it shouldn't require yearly renewal. Mine cost about ₦20,000, and the case is still in court, yet they plan to continue enforcement. Having a tint permit does not prevent the police from conducting regular stop-and-searches at checkpoints. It seems to be more about generating revenue. What have we actually gained from SIM card registration?

Similarly, vehicle owners are required to do yearly renewals to prove they are using their cars. This pattern was observed when they transitioned from CMR to ECMR, before a court judgment was issued against it. And now, we are facing this situation again.

This is no more policing, this looks like fund-raising through threats against the public.

First of, I see no reason why factory-fitted tint glasses should be criminalised. Why not focus on the artificial tints that can be removed with bare hands..

The plan- intimidate people with the tinted permit enforcement, people rush to their portals to pay N14,700 in order to avoid police harassment this festive period.

Smile to the bank at the expense of Nigerians. Enjoy Christmas and New year with the money paid by millions of Nigerians, which is obtained through threat and intimidation..

I met several yahoo boys when i went to do my biometric capture. These boys even tipped the officers and captured without tendering any documents to backup their reasons for their tints

Our government reason backward when it doesn't concern them. Like you highlighted, we hav BVN, NIN, TIN, Vehicle Registration, Insurance Renewal, Road Worthiness Certificate, Proff of Ownership Renewal, Driver's Licence etc... Despite all these, we still have banking scams, internet frauds, Vehicle thefts, Insurance scams, Rickety cars and trucks plying our roads, Reckless drivers that know not even the highway codes, just name it

Our problem is just multidimensional!

I'm tired!
Re: Police to resume Enforcement Of Tinted Glass Permit on January 2, 2026 by Solababa91(m): 7:54am On Dec 16, 2025
What is the need for a permit when a vehicle with tinted glass is stopped? The time used to ask for the permit can also be used to search the vehicle. Abii then go paste am for the vehicle body ni, such a way that when police sees the emblem they would just let the motor go. Misplaced priority at its peak.

Even if government disband the Nigerian Police force, they wouldn't still go. The Officers on the road don't read this memo oh. Can't the NPF issue tinted permit onsite (either e-version or hard copy). this will reduce fraud in the process which is the reason law abiding Nigerian are kicking against it

I dunno how this useless permit will reduce crime enabled by the tinted glass. Are you saying permit holders will not commit crimes with it??
