Na greek gift.

A few months ago, I would have joined many people in blindly supporting Dangote. Like most Nigerians, I saw him only as a patriotic investor trying to save the country. However, the issue between Dangote and his workers opened my eyes, because I had first hand information about what was really happening behind the scenes.

There is no doubt that Dangote is a highly respected figure in Nigeria. That respect is well deserved in many areas. However, it is also important to say the truth, the man lies a lot. He often makes claims that are not accurate and does so very casually. He then hides behind his $20bn dollar investment, fully aware of how emotionally attached Nigerians are to the refinery. Many Optimistic Nigerians genuinely believe that Nigeria’s economic recovery depends solely on that refinery, and Alhaji Dangote understands this very well. He consistently exploits that sentiment to gain public sympathy, while portraying anyone who stands in his way (for right or wrong reasons) as an enemy of Nigeria or a saboteur of the Nigerian economy.

This is not me trying to defend Umar Farouq of NMDPRA. Rather, it is me trying to help people understand the kind of game Aliko Dangote plays. During his saga with PENGASSAN, he announced a reduction in PMS price, a move that has had no real effect till today. That announcement was not about helping Nigerians, it was about public perception. It was designed to make him look good and generate enough sympathy to weaken and eventually crush the engineers who were simply standing up for themselves and asking for a better pay. Unfortunately, that strategy worked perfectly, and he branded the innocent guys as saboteurs, and now his new engineers will collect every pittance he pays them unchallenged.

As NUPENG rightly pointed out, Dangote is fond of giving what can best be described as Greek gifts. This is exactly what we are witnessing again. A few weeks ago, NMDPRA posted an infographics that shows that the Dangote Refinery could not meet the PMS supply needs of the Nigerian market. This led the Federal Government to reverse the 15% import duty on PMS, it was also exposed that the refinery is, in practice, not very different from the blending arrangements he accuses NNPC refineries of operating.

The moment I saw I know Aliko is coming to blackmail somebody, and he didn’t disappoint, because shortly after, Dangote announced a 100 billion naira education intervention, followed by another announcement of PMS price reduction. Suddenly, after successfully washing his image and securing public sympathy, he has now turned his attention to Farouq of NMDPRA, attempting to paint him as corrupt or incompetent. Again, this is not me defending Farouq or claiming he is not corrupt. My position is simple, I do not believe Dangote’s narrative, because history has shown that he lies frequently and relies heavily on the gullibility and emotional reactions of Nigerians.

Finally, I find it extremely difficult to believe that there is any secondary school anywhere that charges five million dollars as school fees. That claim alone should make people pause and question the sincerity of everything being said

It is that 15% import tax reversal that is making Dangote running kiti-kiti for the past few months.

I didn't even know that NMPRDA published a report saying his refinery cannot meet our needs.

I actually thought Dangote woke up one morning, read his Quran, and got convicted to expose Farouq

Dangote reduces fuel to N739.
Importers and Private Depot Operators reduce to N710.

Wonderful!

Importation must continue and Dangote must not be given the monopoly he craves.

It's because of competition in the sector that fuel is being sold at N700+, not because of Dangote's benevolence or philanthropy.

Even when the other refineries come on board. make dem no stop importation.

Yes now.

I buy at Mobil and other independent marketers owned filling stations at prices slightly lower than Ardova, MRS and this Dapo Abiodun filling station that sell Dangote PMS.

What Dangote wants is for the 15% import tax to be imposed so they won't be able sell at competitive price and he will be the one dictating the pump price of PMS at whatever profit margin he desires.

For example if the 15% import tax is waived and importers can sell PMS at 720 per liter, It means Dangote needs to find ways to sell PMS around that same 720 or 718 per liter to compete favorably with them.

Now that should not be hard for Dangote to do because he doesn't spend on sourcing FX for importing like independent marketers do, he doesn't need to pay duties on clearing his stock from the ports and he also gets to buy crude in naira. However, Dangote doesn't want that because he won't be at liberty to maximize his profit margin.

Instead Dangote wants the 15% import tax to increase the cost for those importers such that when he decides to lower his price, they won't be able to do so except they want to sell at a loss. Now that price he will be lowering, it is not necessarily lowered in the best interest of the consumers because he will still be posting a high profit margin since he's not dealing with a lot of aforementioned cost components the importers have to deal with plus 15% import tax.

The regulatory agency the Farouk guy heads has already showed infographics that Dangote doesn't have enough to service the whole Nigeria as of today, but he would rather resort to propaganda and media warfare instead of playing fair.

Your treadmill calories is incorrect and too high. That 436 calories for a 4.65km run at 10km/hr can only be for a person above 100kg.

As a general rule of thumb each 10km run at 10km/hr is 700 calories for a person weighing 75-85kg. So a 5km run as you did should bring out 350 calories, then adjust up or down according to your weight

The 10km/hr is my natural treadmill rhythm and I did 5km this morning at that rhythm on an unimpeachable treadmill (not China made) without inputting my weight, and it came out at 344 calories
The treadmill is apparently faulty and archaic, as some of the indicators on the dashboard aren't working.

Grammanaz figures where surprising, cos I even thought it was a bike ride.

30min treadmill on 10km/hrs is really gruelling and skimming mehn!

I thought I was the only one experiencing this..... Friday over Saturday I had to run generator overnight because of the heat.

All through the day on Saturday had to run generator again. They only restored power in the evening on Saturday and they still fluctuated it overnight.

The light stayed few hours on Sunday morning before they seized it and didn't restore until the evening.

The power supply had been abysmal and there's been no logical reasoning/explanation given for it

TROOPS NEUTRALISED KIDNAPPER, ARREST INFORMANTS IN PLATEAU

Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE (JTF OPEP), while conducting Operation PEACE SHIELD, have successfully neutralised a kidnapper and arrested suspected informants during a swift response to a kidnapping incident in Jos North Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State.

Acting on credible intelligence on 15 December 2025, troops responded to a reported kidnapping attempt at a location in Dong community, Jos North LGA. Upon arrival, troops engaged the kidnappers, forcing them to abandon their mission and flee the area.

However, while retreating, the criminals diverted to an adjoining community where they abducted 4 persons. Troops immediately mobilised in pursuit and engaged the criminals in a firefight, during which one kidnapper was neutralised.

Following the engagement, troops recovered one AK-47 rifle with a magazine and 4 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition from the neutralised kidnapper. Additionally, 3 suspected informants aiding the kidnappers were arrested.

Efforts are currently ongoing to rescue the abducted victims and to apprehend other members of the criminal network involved in the incident.

The Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE assures the general public of its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Plateau State, and indeed the entire Joint Operations Area (JOA). Troops remain highly motivated, vigilant, and operationally effective, and will continue to take decisive action against all forms of criminality to ensure lasting peace and security in the JOA.

It isnt surprising anyway. This is a country where the judiciary is extremely weak. The police knows that they can go ahead and enforce it, and nothing will happen. Dangote is a Nairalander for sure. This is expert level digging. Even Diggz no excavate reach this level.

The education costs are on point though. Swiss schooling is no joke. A guy I used to work for sent his daughter to private school in Switzerland and following his divorce used to complain that he was paying around £250k per year for her school fees and was still dragging parental rights with the mum, after also being kicked out of his marital home by the courts.
