No suprises. There are really two economic regions (Lagos and South East). Igboland has by far the widest net of wealth across the region

If North is poor how come they buy around sixty percent of cement in Nigeria?. They are poor but are pulling more than their weight in building houses. Nowhere is poor, what is needed is cooperation by joining hands together via taxes. Mass poverty can only be solved by the government taking around half of the GDP. Then where population is is where the money is. Also Lagos GDP is artificially high because of a high cost of living. |

Ofodirinwa:The SE has the lowest GDP by far and that is because of the low population. You can't manufacture GDP from thin air. You need to have the population first |

Everybody have what they do in their land. In Ilesa here a farmer producing 5 tonnes of cocoa per annum apart from yams, cassava and etc will not go and do another thing. Cocoa is six thousand dollars per tonne. A Hausa farmer doing beans, onions and maize making thirty million naira a year will base on that. Small time farmers in the North come to the south during dry season for seasonal jobs does not mean they are poor. They always return to their farms and overtime they become wealthy. Somebody in the east doing palm oil, cassava and yams will stay there. All states have civil servants too paid similar wages. Total wealth of a state is to do with population and not much else. Nowhere is idle and most states are over ninety percent indigenes. |

lawani:Rubbish analysis..........so Nigeria is richer than China abi? Because we are busy doing subsistence farming......Nigeria is a crappy poor backwater....including Lagos and south east! |
| Re: Wealth Distribution By State (2025) by lawani(m): 11:43am On Dec 16, 2025 |
Eboofa:Agric is only around twenty something percent of the GDP but it is the largest sector. China is better led than Nigeria. They have a lower dependency ratio. Fewer children. Slower population growth rate. They also have a better infrastructure. We have too many mouths to feed in Nigeria and not under as able leadership. China is more expensive to live in than Nigeria but I was not comparing China to Nigeria. |

From Aba it went to ikot ekpene , Uyo . Some isolated bright spots around Enugu and a huge spot around Port Harcourt |

lawani:IMO GDP is higher than all South West state outside Lagos Anambra GDP is highly than all South West state outside Anambra South East have 5 states ooh yet has same GDP as North West with 7 states The most important fact is this 99.999% of South East GDP is Igbo owned no other region can say the same none |

Putinofrussia:When US threatened to invade Nigeria to fight of bandits, why did the chose to plan their military base around Port Harcourt and not around Lagos despite the banks and the dangote refinery. The reason is simple , Nigeria can do and will do without Lagos , but Nigeria will immediately disappear if anything happens to the East and Niger delta . To rhe best of my knowledge, Lagos is flying on the wings of niger delta |

mrvitalis:The up to 30 billion dollars oil revenue that is taken by government and oil companies is added to the GDP of oil producing states. Banks and hotels have more branches in Osun state than Imo state. That means they make more money there. There is no profession or trade you want to count that Osun or Anambra is not more than Imo. All the evidence are online. Just Google. Use rentech.com. Therefore the real GDP of Osun or Anambra is higher than Imo. The oil and gas in Imo is taken out by the government. It is added to the GDP but the money does not stay in Imo or any of the oil states. According to NIN registration data available online Imo has 2.1 million entries and Osun has 2.3 million. Anambra is 2.9 million Ogun is 5 million and Oyo is 4.5 million. The real GDP outside oil and gas will correlate with the population when compared with each other. The only instances it will not correlate perfectly is when cost of living differs. For instance cost of living is lower in the North. A low cost of living is an advantage. Akwa ibom or Rivers or Imo does not have Kano's economic activity or GDP but Nigeria's GDP ranking awards them a higher GDP because of oil and gas. Then in the SE there are millions of non indigenes with many of them as HNIs and you are wrong to say indigenes control everything in the SE. Their situation is like other zones. If they have 1000 dollar millionaires more than ten percent or thereabouts will be non indigenes. There are less than ten thousand dollar millionaires in Nigeria. A Fulani man with 200 cows is a naira level HNI with over 100 million in asset and such are there in the SE |

| Re: Wealth Distribution By State (2025) by Ofodirinwa(op): 9:22pm On Dec 16, 2025 |
lawani:Is oil and gas not an economic activity? You can say everything you need but in all indices of development Imo is in the top 4 nationwide. GDP, education, healthcare, literacy etc etc. If you want to convince yourself that it is the high income foreigners like Yoruba tailors and Hausa security men which are causing this that is fine but the next question is why is it that its only the places with a high Igbo population (and im including Lagos and Kano) that are yellow? And when you go to these places Igbo people are living better than the locals. Then you go to the SE and Igbo people are living better than the foreigners (who are few). But even outside of Oil, the Owerri Airport is only behind Abuja and Lagos in patronage. There are thousands of videos of Imo State villages and cities and the SE is visibly and statistically more economically active and developed than everywhere else in Nigeria |

benardtotti:The Oyo patch is roughly the same as the Benin City and Kano ones, but if the three its the biggest. What I was highlighting was that Anambra - Imo - Abia are as economically active as Lagos meaning similar activity spread over a greater area |
