It is just co-incidental that the person you wrote about is my uncle. Half of what you wrote about him is not true.... For instance, Uncle Etim Esin is not living quietly in Akwa Ibom state. He now lives in Lekki (quietly in his house there). He also has houses in Surulere and other parts of lagos... While the write-up about the armed robbers' incident is just 70% correct, the incident about rape is false. You need to understand his perspective. He did not rape anyone, I spoke with him about this incident myself, and the narrative he gave is quite different - it was a case of frame up. Uncle Etim John Esin that I know in person is not regretting anything... I can tell you that for free.

I know that we have several Ex-Super Eagles players on this platform too, probably reading this post. We need to celebrate our heroes. My uncle is a Living Legend, let's celebrate him while he is still alive.
I'm not trying to berate your uncle. But he's not a legend the way you try to make it.
Apart from the under 20 national team which he and his colleagues fail woefully, he did nothing for super eagles. So I don't know where the legend is coming from. He's an unindiscipline player and that cost him a lot in his career.
I watched super eagles from 1990 till when he retired and I didn't see any impact he had in the team.

For real….

Many still won’t listen…I also think indecent dressings from some ladies are causing more harm these days, even for young teens and youth.

Many would argue and become defensive. Some women indiscipline when it comes to dressing are part of today’s problems.

You can’t turn left, right or fave front without seeing a deliberately sexually-dressed woman. This sounds simple but that’s just it.

Men are meant to be disciplined! But some women are not helping the matters.
Lol.

Go and read the bible. Many new testament christians were surrounded by even more temptations than you can dream about , yet all of them remained faithful

In my job I see indecently dressed women. Yes I want to tell them to dress properly, but up till today, I never succumb to temptation because I fear the consequences. When back during my university days one male student was nearly beaten to death for rping a woman

Discipline is self control even when everyone is losing control. No matter how many bannies dress like Jezebel, you can do it

Plus etim Esin was warned. He no hear. Stephen Keshi that warned him, did Steven Keshi end up in woman wrapper issue ? Jay jay, kanu, did they end up in women wrappa issue? Or na only Esin come?

No, he could have made it. The downfall began when he was u20. That accident plus the woman palava did it for him

Many players are like that. Brilliant at youth level, useless at senior level

Chai, I heard about him in my secondary school days but didn't watch him in action for once.
I heard about him too, but honestly I didn't watch or see him play even though I started watching super eagles from 1989.
I guess his exploits was in the local league which we didn't get to see then
Re: The Story Of Etim Esin --- The Nigerian "Maradona" Who Didn't Dazzle The World by Kalulu44: 9:30am On Dec 16, 2025
I need to correct something here, Etim John Esin was a local league super star of the late 80s and early 90s.
As for the national team of Nigeria, he did virtually nothing. The Chile 87 under 20 world cup was his tournament to shine but he ruined it all by sneaking out of camp to go look for olosho in a Lagos club, which eventually culminated in him being shot in the thigh. And he never recovered from that incident.
He went to the world cup even though he was not fit and had no impact.
As for the super eagles, I don't think he even played for the eagles talkless of having an impact. Cus I started watching the eagles from Maroc 88 nations cup, and I didn't see him play for them.
So I think he's kind of a local league legend, not for the national team.
And let me add this, he's a chronic womanizer which also ruined his career

Thanks for the clarity but the writer said it was false allegation ,
Only 70% of him attacked by robbers was true, 70 is a pass mark,
Which means almost true.....the bottomline is that people will learn from him.

No one is judging him

I thought as much. He didn't orchestrate what some assume to be "his downfall." This country could have been set up. The truth is, he was incredibly talented and could have propelled the nation to stardom in regional and international football tournaments. But so much happened behind the scenes—he never fully understood the powerful forces that rose around him. Still, he remains a legend. He traveled the world and lived a remarkable life.

Reason why I don't blame Islam on how women should be treated .... women love to create intimidation, catastrophe, pains , disaster , confusion ... if women had more physical strength than men...just know that all men will be slaves and they will always celebrate it. .. the male specie is more supportive, compassionate, enduring understanding, flexible, sacrificing, forgiving, considerate than the female species...

Yh, that’s correct.

The goal is to be disciplined…and not to succumb to temptation.

I cited that, as it’s one of the conversations people don’t want to have these days.
Discipline should be the watchword no matter the circumstances.

Re: The Story Of Etim Esin --- The Nigerian "Maradona" Who Didn't Dazzle The World by Successlane: 10:35am On Dec 16, 2025
Etim Esin was an exceptionally gifted footballer. The late ace commentator, Ernest Okwonkwo (of blessed memory), famously nicknamed him Maradona because of his extraordinary skill with the ball. I watched him several times—sometimes live—between the late 1980s and early 1990s, and his football artistry was truly a joy to behold.

Unfortunately, his greatest challenge was indiscipline, often attributed to excessive pampering by his parents. This flaw manifested clearly in his conduct during national assignments with the Flying Eagles and the Super Eagles.

Ultimately, this lack of discipline contributed to the premature end of his career when he moved to Belgium, where he was accused of raping two women simultaneously. At the time, many believed the incident was a setup. It was also widely reported that the late Stephen Keshi (RIP) had warned him beforehand, advice he unfortunately chose to ignore.
