This is not entirely correct. President Mahama of Ghana’s mother was not a Yoruba woman; rather, his stepmother was. It was his stepmother who brought Mahama to Offa, Kwara State.

What is correct is that a certain group of Ghanaians—the Ga (Gaa) people—are related to the Yoruba people. The Ga people of Accra are originally from Oyo, with ancestral roots in Ile-Ife, just like other Yoruba subgroups.

The King of Accra, the Ga Mantse, has stated this several times—that they're originally from Nigeria, specifically Ile-Ife and Oyo.

The bolded is incorrect.
The Ga people are from Ile-Ife; have no linkage with Oyo

John Dramani Mahama is a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), he previously served as president from 2012 to 2017.

Caption this his 'birthday ' picture where he dashingly adorns full regalia of royalty, 'abeti aja' cap and matching aṣọ oke.

His mother is Ghanaian, not Yoruba. But his late step mother was a Yoruba from Offa, Kwara state.
He himself came to live with his father and step mother in Offa when the father (a politician) had to come live in exile in Nigeria for sometime as a result of military coup in Ghana. That is why he is familiar with Nigeria.

On Monday, 15 Dec, 2025 he was coronated with the chieftancy title as the Aare Atayeto Oodua of the Source by the Ooni of Ife. (that is probably where/when he put on the dress in the picture above)
The op conveniently ommited the fact that he was in Ile Ife to receive a chieftancy title, hence the dressing not because of any birthday.

Totally true! Everything about them were borrowed from other cultures.

This Ewedu and amala that they eat was actually copied from Ghana. I watched a video of where the Ghanian version of Amala was being prepared with a slimy soup...theirs (the Ghanians) looked more palatable and presentable than that of yorubas.

Yorubas has a wider influence in West Africa, from the South West to as far as Benin, Togo and Some parts of Ghana, the Old Oyo Empire under Oranmiyan and Sango covered the whole of Benin known as Dahomey and Parts of Togo,.That is why Benin Republic is called the 37th State of Nigeria,There is really no difference between Benin Republic and Yorubaland in terms of language and culture. And yorubas do marry Ghanaians a lot ?
