emkz:Anyone that mentions importation of finished product from crude oil is an enemy of Nigeria. We should still go back to importation of substandard petrol because some adult children can't compete by building their own refinery? Because you don't want to do that you call it monopoly. |

emkz:But you dull sha! Did Dangote stop him from issuing licenses? The people that were issued licences are they not the ones weeping profusely anytime Dangote reduces the price of petrol? Dangote can only practice monopoly against owners of refineries not corrupt marketers. Do you even know what monopoly means? Dangote and those marketers are not doing the same thing, while he refines petroleum products, they buy and sell like the tomato and onion seller in the market, I mean anyone with the right backing can do what they do. |

Wickedtruths:We must learn from the collapse of Nigeria’s textile factories. That industry didn't just disappear, it was suffocated by the same issues we see in the energy sector today, high production costs, non-existent infrastructure, and a preference for foreign imports over local manufacturing. Labels like 'monopoly' are often used to distract from the fact that we have failed to create a competitive environment for local production. We shouldn't be importing fuel in 2025 any more than we should have abandoned our textile heritage. It’s time to stop choosing the path of least resistance and start fixing the underlying issues that make local business so difficult. |

emkz:Serious questions here. I am not a fan of Dangote but this is just a very shitty move even for him. Publishing names of kids and their location when their father is a PEP (politically exposed person) I hope Farouq’s children never forgive this. Was there no other way for Dangote to make his point. As much as we have also have questions of corruption dangling over Farouq, I have warned about Dangote severally years ago when this refinery was announced. Dangote will never have your best interest at heart If Dangote see the entire over 250 million population of Nigeria as a stumbling block, he would rather steam roll over them than lose his money. This is who Dangote is. I am absolutely not in support of him having any form of monopoly in the oil and gas sector.

Hismajesty44:They are all part of the game, but let's dissect this matter. How can money more that the price of Dangote's refinery be spent to revive 4 refinery which are still not working as we speak after all the celebrations they did to show they have started production?? How can Nigeria host the biggest refinery in the world (DANGOTE's) and still be importing more fuel ![]() Like how should importers be dictating price for a local refinery ![]() Are they not supposed to be buying from the local refinery with an independent body regulating prices ![]() Bro, the matter is just gallivanting around personal interest. |

Irresponsibility of highest order on Dangote's part. Explicit exposure of children and their school can subject them to trauma and alter their education foundation. What I read in the initial response by Farouk was a sound defense that should be followed up with litigation after proven. Every public officer is exposed to opportunities. The 30 years old public servant could have family investment in oil and gas sector. The dude authorized the school to provide investigators the actual school fees amount which he said is a far cry from Dangote's $5m allegation. |

Fiscus105:Dangote was not voted by the people to represent them,so don't expect him to be doing things for the love of the people. Even if he love the country nobody collect loan spend for the benefit of the country. But for him to invest such amount of money in the country it clearly shows he is not enermy of the nation. There are other countries he can invest that amount ofr money to get higher return on investment. Now some people who are within. The government want to sabotage his business he is now fighting back |

miracle002:And Farouk and the 40 importers are fighting for Nigerians, not for their greedy interest. Anyone that supports import of refined petroleum product is a complete ***. Let them compete with Dangote by building their own Refineries. Let them out compete him by building more Refineries since our current production is not sufficient, then there is a big opportunity for production. Which benefits everyone except European countries selling us substandard fuel. |

He is only denying it now when he realized his explanations did not make sense. he is hiding under the cover of the case being in ICPC while he goes behind to kill the case. but he doesn't know yet that this time he is not dealing with an ordinary nigerian. if na one common blogger now, they would have put him in jail. let him arrest dangote na. He must explain the source of the 5m dollars to Nigerians whether the case dey ICPC or not. |

emkz:It's deeper than that..For someone like Dangote who has been known to shy away from Public comments to all of a sudden start talking is because there is indeed a cabal hell bent on destroying the refinery. Can you remember the public televised comments of someone who said Dangote s refinery created substandard petrol when Dangote has shipped Petrol to America. There is a cabal that wants Dangote out of business. They went for him and he is going for them. And guess what ? He is going to Win, Why ? It's one man versus like 50 men. He is going to have clarity of thought since his thoughts will not be divided like the 50. |

Wickedtruths:Since my 'long epistles' seem to bother you, I’ll keep the facts heavy and the word count light. You’ve actually proven my point when you ignore the data, you’re left with nothing but emotions. Let’s talk logic, Kano is a commercial hub with a massive distribution network and fierce competition of course prices are lower there. Meanwhile, Kogi sits right next to the Obajana plant but suffers because proximity doesn't fix broken infrastructure. As for the price gap in other African countries? A quick research trip beyond your feelings would show you the same 'fault lines' I mentioned stable grids and functional rail systems elsewhere make production cheaper. If you’re making a killing off fuel importation, I’ll excuse your stance. But if you’re an ordinary Nigerian, your anger is directed at the wrong person. Don't blame the builder, blame the government that refuses to fix the road to the site. Importing fuel is just a high interest loan on our future pain. We must all say no to it! I am off to work. |

[quote author=emkz post=137821341]Aliko: 1. Is it true that our refinery cannot meet daily demand in Nigeria? How did Farouk arrive at that assertion, Dangote cant meet our demands, why not set him up with a test and show Nigeria Dangote cant meet out needs, as any marketer ever come out to complain they went to the refinery nd there demand was not met .. common sense 2. If that is the case, why do you want to monopolize the market?Did dangote throw bomb into our seaport, cos how else can he monopolized a sector he is not regulating licenses.. common sense 3. If your refinery cannot meet daily demand, is it not fair for import licenses to be granted to those who can support your own output?Farouk should present @least two occasions Dangote failed to meet demands in the last two years .. show us 4.You hold press conferences every month as if you are briefing Nigerians on the state of your refinery. In your latest press conference, you published the names of NMDPRA's children and the schools they attended and the fees they paid. You failed to link those fees to corruption. We expected you to submit evidence of him receiving money illegally or engaging in corruption. You can only gaslight people below you, 1st its not Dangote job to link an allegation to corruption, thats the job of efcc. Whistle blowing all about suspicion it is left for the authority to investigate n get the fact Farouk is a public figure, the fact that is name is on Wikepedia means is children name are bound to be online .. So dangote is not revealing a national secret 5. You are at loggergeads because he granted import licenses. Why don't you lobby legislators to amend the PIA to ensure NMDPRA cannot grant such licenses?I can rationalized Dangote going after farouk, it is to protect is investment rite ! But please Why is Farouk so much against Dangote .. he was the 1st to launch Dangote fuel is inferior even without a test .. What is Farouk interest in this battle, dont tell me he is fighting for Nigerians cos thunder wil strike 6. You attempted to penetrate the noodles market and left it as quickly as you came in because Dufil Prima already dominated the market. Are you afraid of competition? What you dont know you dont know, In business you stick to terrain you understand and have leverages. is plain stewpidity to compete in business you know You dont have leverages. no business man prays for competition buh its something you have no choice 7. Scale up production, plug loopholes and sell at prices Nigerians can afford. That way, you'd take a significant chunk of market share. Engaging in monthly smear campaign and attacking someone's children is not how to run a business. That is introducing political smear campaign in the corporate world. Until the refinery attains full capacity, import licenses are to continue. Is business strategy to survive is nobody fvcking business, you also have all right to do your own strategy .. let the best man win thats what competition is about .. wailing, sentiments are not tenable here How does revealing your children school fee, put your children in danger .. is school fee a thing of secrecy now We appreciate Aliko for building a refinery to meet Nigeria's energy needs. I suggest he buys out the marketers and take over their assetsKeep your hypocrisy to yourself, appreciate it or not, Dangote have come to stay, it is the Markeeters that should evolve cos the game as change .. merge build a refinery thats how to match up to Dangote competition |
