1. The original title of the post was:

"AFRICA LENS: Nigeria’s Exports To The Continent Surges 91%, Now ₦4.9trn"

The title was changed by the moderator while moving the post to front page.

2. The initial paragraph of the original article highlighted the jump in Nigeria’s exports to African countries. The BRICS remark was just an additional observation.

Sad to see that the REPORTED boom has not stopped Tinubu and APC failure to crash the dollar rate as they promised, despite saving $84 billion in subsidy removal, reducing imports and borrowing to specifically defend the Naira.

Do you think that Tinubu is just stealing all the money to bribe politicians and buy votes for his reelection and 3rd term agenda for life president huh
[quote author=matify83 post=137820192]I started exporting charcoal this year, shipped a second set to Turkey just before winter , exported 80 tons to be precise for $50400 , just so you know I had no idea how to export anything before July this year. It's sad that Nigerians have chosen to hate towards the government and being keypad warriors over tapping into opportunities that are springing up everyday all around them . Not saying the government is the best but make we no lie them they try , na just hate make most people blind to the good that's happening in Nigeria.

Is it that Tinubu and APC are stealing all the money since the stories are not impacting the exchange rate, nor other aspects of socioeconomic conditions huh

What do you think is happening to the money?

All I wanted the report to highlight was diversification from petroleum products and where our export weight lies.

It will make no economic sense for us to continue exports of raw materials without value addition.

For example: here is a statistics I just got on the surge in Port activity in 2024/25 detailing improvement

Total container traffic climbed by 18.9 per cent to 546,931 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) in Q3 2025, compared with 460,038 TEUs in Q3 2024.
Within this, import-laden containers rose by 33.1 per cent to 268,713 TEUs, from 201,839 TEUs a year earlier, while export-laden containers surged to 69,039 TEUs, from just 5,812 TEUs in the same period of 2024.

Concerning your charcoal export, I hope you are aware of the environmental impact that your business poses to our climate on the long run?

If all the above is not APC propaganda then why is Tinubu failing to crash the dollar rate just like his expired Buhari also failed in his own administration huh

Should APC change their name to All Promises Cancelled?
You still want Dollar to go back to 200 Naira, what do you think is propelling the increase in export ? You can't eat your cake and have it.

exchange rate has been going down steadily. You need to understand that our exchange rate makes our products cheaper in the global market ,China has been devaluing their currency over the years just so their products are always cheaper globally that's why Trump calls them currency manipulator. An import dependent Nigeria will want an exchange rate of about N500 to a dollar but if we are to become Africa's biggest exporter an exchange rate not less than N1000 to a dollar should be the goal , besides we produce most of what we eat so we are good. Nigeria will be great again .

I am not the one who wants it.

It’s Tinubu and his APC predecessor who want to crash the exchange rate but are failing to do so since 2015.

I hope you know the car you drive, the public transport you enter and your generator all have negative impact on the environment on the long run, you should stop using them all. What do you think?

That is why the world is gradually transitioning to EV.

Besides, your deforestation is depriving the environment of Carbon dioxide sink by the trees, increasing desertification and degrading the Fauna.

Your position on other carbon generating human activities does not negate the serious impact that the charcoal industry has on our environment.

I understand that money must be made but the cost is what countries like Iran is experiencing today.

My carbon footprint is very small if I must confess except for my car.
I'm totally off grid, I have 9 mango trees in my backyard with plans for more. I compost waste as to burning for use in my plantain farm. I'm an environmentalist.

Was it really a "surge" or is it because our currency is now badly weakened?
for instance, if before this admin our exports were worth $1m, that would be N47m (at Fx rate of approx 470). This year the same $1m exports would be worth about N1.5b. (at Fx of approx N1500)

I'm happy things appear to be looking up but we must look at these figures in relative terms
You are right. The Lagos Chamber of Industry and Commerce noted the bold - the figures increased largely as a result of the devalued currency, not because of an increase in volume. However, that of cocoa increased in volume as many got into the trade due to the historical price per tonne for cocoa.
