I want to challenge you to do some research on oil palm and the British empire In Nigeria. You will know the wonders of oil palm and the wicked part the British took on to destroy what's ours but they took it to build their own industries.

Oil palm, hands down. So much you can do with oil palm farm, palm wine, palm oil, palm kernel oil just to name a few. The only thing that I can think of with coconut is, well, coconut. But please feel free to object, I am no farmer.

Both are long term investments...

Palm oil takes 3 to 5 years to mature. Coconut takes longer 5 to 7 years.

Palm oil keeps producing for 25 to 30 years while coconut can be productive for up to 50 to 60 years.

So most times its an investment for ones children!

Most of the answers you are getting here are more like chatgpt answers and not practical.

Compare the average yield for a coconut tree to a palm oil tree.

Then compare the cost of a bunch of palmnuts to coconuts. Remember to do this at wholesale price, there you have your answer.

Both are very viable ventures, but I will advise you in addition to both of them, try plant cocoa in-between them, it's a very good idea, cocoa don't like too much son, so the palm and coconut tree will provide a perfect shade for the cocoa tree. Mind you cocoa after 3 years start giving you money same as the palm tree depending on the species you plant.

Both are from same family...

You can get wine, oil, etc. They is almost nothing palm oil does or can do that coconut can't. If there is any difference the margin isn't hands down or so wide as you put it!

But herein lies which would be more profitable.

But palm oil yields more on an acre than coconut. What I'm not sure of is the pricing of both!

You are not only getting the palm oil from oil palm, you are also getting the kernel and the nuts

they get coconut oil from coconut too and it very expensive and very high on cholesterol.

It even gives better results than palm oil!

I know of some guys who store palm oil under the ground..... I asked what for, was told they are storing it for soap us. They build a tank under the ground and discharge the oil to the ground.

Oil Palm is better according to most. However same way nothing goes to waste with oil palm is the way nothing goes to waste with coconuts. The market is also on standby for both.

Oil palm.

Check out Okomu oil palm company and Presco oil in Benin city. Tyr visit their farms/plants, you'll come back with testimony.

I was at Okomu farms with over 19k hectares of palm plantation. I can't give you enough gist. They also help local farmers like you with exceedingly great seedlings.

Check the number of times you and those around you use Palm oil products versus the number of times you use coconut products, then you will figure out which products are more profitable.
Consider also cost of production if you plan to process before you sell.
