There is a close relative of mine who has been mentally ill for decades. Over the years, he has been in and out of psychiatric facilities. He has visited pastors and herbalists, but still no headway.

Hmm. Lack of family support you say? Family does not have the capacity to take care of them. They should be in secure facility with trained professionals. When they get into their moods they have super human strength and can become violent. You really don’t want to live with them. I know and even saw one that broke down a heavy metal door during one of his episode. If that one is at home with his parent he will crush them like paper.
