The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has called for the immediate trial and prosecution of terrorism financiers in the country.


NBA President Afam Osigwe made the call on Wednesday while responding to questions in an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television monitored by DAILY POST.

“I take that with a pinch of salt. If we have them, we prosecute them. And you may wonder why I also take them with a pinch of salt.

“There’s one name that kept occurring on that list. I knew that my office, and I personally, were involved in the trial of that person, and he was acquitted, yet his name keeps appearing. So it also makes me wonder whether there may not be some innocent persons whose names keep appearing there.

“But the bottom line is, if there are persons identified as financiers of terrorist activities, and we have credible evidence linking them to that, then they should be brought to stand trial. If the government has enough evidence to prove their guilt, they should establish it, then they can defend themselves, and a court will decide.

“But just keep dropping names of terrorism financiers and warning them without any action being taken, it makes you wonder whether it’s not just about throwing up people’s names,” he said.

It's only in Nigeria that you see security agencies and FG warning terrorist and financiers of terrorism but sending innocent citizens who knew nothing to stand trials and remained them in prison spending 20 years and above without trials or sending a man who stole chicken to life imprisonment.

The NBA president is making sense here.

FG should go beyond just mentioning names, they should start arresting and prosecuting them

The same NBA members will be the ones shielding and defending terrorist financiers in court. Talk to your members and make the prosecution of major offenders easier for the government.

It’s time to put these terrorists financier in jail.

This is occultic, the blood shedding is an oath that the president took not to review the deep reason behind it. There are X amount of numbers of people he agreed to scarify if he wins the election and that is what he's doing.

The word is PROSECUTE not PERSECUTE

The NBA is right. It's important that we don't just throw names around without prosecution.

The government seems using baby hand in dealing with terrorists and their financers. Kill some, jail some and you will see an end to terrorism. Nothing like rehabilitation. Infact just name like 3 names of financers and others will run for their lives.

Kudos to the NBA for standing firm on this.

Story. FG under APC can never really do anything to curb this terrorism because they know the genesis of the whole thing.


If Nigerians really want terrorism to end in this country, get rid of APC
