Two suspected kidnappers reportedly carrying Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association membership identity cards have been neutralised by Nigerian Navy personnel during a security operation along the Inele/Inabe Road in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Sources told SaharaReporters that the incident occurred late on Tuesday night during a routine patrol by naval operatives deployed to the area following repeated complaints of abductions and armed robbery along the axis.

According to the source, the suspects were intercepted by naval personnel while allegedly attempting to carry out a kidnapping operation.

The assailants were said to have engaged the operatives in a gun battle, during which they were fatally injured.

Photographs obtained by SaharaReporters show the deceased suspects dressed in what appeared to be military-style camouflage uniforms.

Also recovered from them were identity cards bearing the name and logo of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria.

Security sources stressed that investigations were ongoing to determine the authenticity of the ID cards and the full extent of the suspects’ activities, including whether they were part of a larger criminal network operating within Kogi State and neighbouring areas.

SaharaReporters previously reported that Jege in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State was thrown into fear on Monday night, December 15, 2025, following an attack by bandits.

According to local sources, the assailants stormed the community under the cover of darkness and abducted an unconfirmed number of residents.

Details surrounding the incident remain sketchy as of the time of filing this report, with no official statement yet from security agencies or the state government.

Residents described the atmosphere as tense, saying the attack has deepened concerns over growing insecurity in parts of the local government area.

Community members have called for increased patrols and urgent intervention to prevent further attacks.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that terrorists, locally dubbed as bandits, kidnapped the elder brother of the Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area in Kogi State, Mr. Tosin Oluokun.

The abduction occurred earlier on Monday while the victim was working on his farm within Yagba West LGA.

This latest incident adds to growing concerns over insecurity in the area, as residents continue to grapple with recurring cases of banditry and kidnappings, particularly targeting farmers.

Mrs Olakunrin died of gunshot wounds in July 2019 after her vehicle was attacked by armed men, suspected to be marauding Fulani bandits whose violent activities had reached a frightening level across the southwest states.


Those arrested suspects include Lawal Mazaje, 40, from Felele area of Kogi State; Adamu Adamu, 50, from Jada area of Adamawa State; Mohammed Usman, 26, from Illela area of Sokoto State and Auwal Abubakar, 25, from Shinkafi area of Zamfara State....

However, the leader of the team, identified only as Tambaya, and three others are yet to be found.

Tambaya has been declared wanted by the police and he is said to be capable of communicating in Hausa, Fulfude and Pidgin English.

Tinubu rules out alliance with CPC

Prospect of a possible alliance between the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, was dashed yesterday in Kano as the leader of the party and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu described CPC as parading “expired leadership.”

Tinubu told ACN supporters in Kano during the party’s Presidential rally that: “What Nigerians need now is a transformation in leadership” as obtained in the advanced economy.

The two-term Governor of Lagos State explained that the leadership of ACN was offering Nigeria the brilliance of Nuhu Ribadu who, he said, is in the class of Nicolas Sarkozi of France, David Cameron of Britain, Medvedev of Russia and Barack Obama of the United States of America.

“What has CPC got to offer? We certainly don’t need expired leadership as we are offering the best in terms of brilliance, courage and patriotism in the class of Sarkozi of France, David Cameron of Britain and Barack Obama of the USA.”

Tinubu’s position came on the heels of Ribadu’s declaration penultimate week in Kaduna when he hinted during a political rally of a joint ticket between the two opposition parties to confront the dominance of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The national leader of ACN criticised President Goodluck Jonathan for shying away from the national debate held last Friday, stressing that”that singular act exposed Jonathan as a coward who has nothing to offer.”
