So she has forgotten they've been friends before he met her? That lady should better avoid the wife, she's toxic.

I went to the palace with my former boss to take estimate for a wiring project and we heard a man call the king by name. He just called him casually and we were kinda surprised........It was later one of the palace workers told us they're childhood friends. Heaven didn't fall.

Someone is warning you not to call her husband so lowly and the next thing you do is to say BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A CHILD THEN. What happened to adding Mr or making reference to him in 3rd person? I can't call my friend's wife by her name.

So you will continue to disrespect the man in front of his wife till they have a child? And you call yourself a FRIEND?
naxo dem be, she fit say d babe dey EYE her MAN since SCHOOL days

If you walk on eggshells around your friend because of their new status
So you have to walk on eggshells before you adjust to society? Speaks volumes about you and why you keep evading the question while trying to camouflage with plenty basic words.

But not to worry, When you reach the age and (if you are lucky) attain the level of social maturity, then it would come naturally to you.

For now, you have been weighed, you have been measured and you have been found wanting. No further words to be wasted on you till you marry and allow your friends to call your wife anyhow they want based on your long time friendship.

[And a single man should be disrespected, even if he is older than the married man?]

That friendship is as good as gone from that day for me.

What could she have called the man other than his name ?

Even if they have children

The universe knows I hate calling people 'mama this ' or Baba that .

First, are you married?
If yes to the first question, Do your friends call your wife by her name?
shocked

So, you didn't read the part she claimed they were all close to each other. The wife was simply trying to protect her place, nothing else. She just wasn't comfortable that another woman FELT close enough to her husband to refer to him by her name.

Another angle is that she felt the girl didn't say it with "enough" respect. If I knew you before marriage, I will keep calling you by your name unless we're not that close.

Sometimes, I question the "friendship" women keep. They know themselves and what they're capable of.

SuperOnyi. 😊
It is fine if the wife allowed it but since the wife has pointed it out that such familiarity and formality should be adjusted, it is only sensible that the warning should be heeded. Simple.

If you come to my house and call my wife by name and I allow it, no wahala. But if I warn you about it, should you now come online and be ranting or simply respect my wish?

That is the only place where you could enforce such ridiculous rules. Outside of your house, people maintain their freedoms to regard you the way they prefer. undecided

If you go back to the original story you would see that the incident took place in the home of the couple.

Now again, Anywhere at all, and especially If you come to my house and call my wife by name and I allow it, no wahala. But if I warn you about it, and you still go about it your way, any RIDICULOUS thing wey you see make you take?

Well, anyone who imposes such rules in their home should automatically be cut off from friends who knew them before. It screams controlling. undecided

2. Outside of your home, you risk going to jail. So, be mindful of that, at least. Try that nonsense abroad where even children go call your grandpapa by his first name, make we see. Yeye dey smell! undecided
