-“Opposition elements can say whatever they want, they are talking nonsense"- "the law has already been passed"- Onanuga

- Presidency maintains that the government would proceed with the implementation of the tax laws in line with the established timeline, regardless of public outrage.

According to a document made available to Sunday PUNCH by a credible source in the National Assembly who for security reasons did not want his name in print, some major vital provisions bordering on oversight and accountability, which were initially approved by lawmakers, were removed from the final Acts.

The document also showed that new coercive clauses, including arrest powers, garnishee orders without court approval, and compulsory USD computation, which were not part of the versions ratified by parliament, were included in the gazetted laws.

But, the presidency in a scathing reply, argued that allegations that the tax documents were altered had not been established by any constituted authority.

Meanwhile, the Take-It-Back Movement said it had begun mobilising Nigerians for a nationwide strike against the tax reform laws, describing the reforms as “anti-people and illegitimate.”

Speaking with Sunday PUNCH, the National Coordinator of the movement, Juwon Sanyaolu, described the alleged alteration as a continuation of impunity by the Tinubu-led administration, arguing that the policy was designed to exploit ordinary Nigerians.

The law itself is primarily targeted against the people of Nigeria. This tax reform seeks to exploit about 90 per cent of the population,” he said.

According to him, the reform targets employers, entrepreneurs, young people, content creators and other informal workers, despite what he described as the government’s failure to provide basic services. It's a pity "he said"

Apc has compromised the Court system. So any protest against violation of the rights of the citizens isn't addressed but asked to go to a compromised system

They know why they always arrogantly refer people to the courts. If they continue at this rate, the revolution will be televised.

The courts have been heavily compromised by the ologogoro FCT land grabber who is building houses for judges.

I still won't believe these hear says until evidence is provided that the tax laws was indeed altered. We have many unconfirmed and rumour in Nigeria that have taken over social media and people easily believe these news without actually verifying it. Until we see evidence, I won't believe the news.

The protest that happened in Ghana may be a child's play to what's to come next year, even though they will come to silence us with weapons they can't kill everyone.

Which smart person changes a winning strategy?

If his jẹun soke jẹun sapo TAX monster plan is successful in Lagos State since 1999, why should he change it for 200 million Nigerians huh

The eyesore on Bourdillon Road
2nd January 2025

Beyond his neighbours, there is something about the sight of people hanging around a president’s residence that does not speak well of his leadership capabilities. Maybe no one has nudged him to see it, but the impression that spectacle on Bourdillon Road generates is that Tinubu enjoys the sight of suffering humans and thrives in—and through— their poverty.

If all these years, impoverished people hang around you and you remain comfortable enough to keep them just so they can be handed tokens of your large heart, then it means you have a pro-poverty mindset. Such a frame of mind is oriented toward cultivating poverty rather than stimulating abundance.

That is why he could unproblematically relate the story of his “friend” who went from using five Rolls Royce to a far-less valued car and not consider the import of the nonsense he was saying. That spurious account was an indication that this is a man for whom poverty—of others, not himself—is an ideal.

They have the judiciary in their pockets...
Therefore any small thing they tell you go to court.

But One day they will stand before the Judge of the earth in His own court too.

Even apc supporters realised how evil their party has become.
An old man in our estate lamented before me yesterday that, never in his 70+ years has he ever seen a thing like this. That his two sons who got job from hos apc influence is regretting their stay back in Nigeria. He said that Tinubu is intelligent in evil ways.
I know that no matter how evil a system us, they can never lack supporters and that's what we have with apc.
