Interesting... Life was so beautiful and simple back then. Things keep changing and becoming more difficult, complex and complicated! |

This is why you should take real estate investment seriously. 1979 may seem distant, but look back—it's not that long ago. Generating wealth through property ownership remains one of the most powerful paths to riches. Invest wisely. Invest smart. |

One Naira was two pounds as of 1979. I remember our goods were quoted in pounds and naira back then. But life wasn't as glamorous as it's today. People don't go to the market to buy a bag of rice to keep. You buy the one to cook at a time, there was no mad rush in life. People were content with what they had. Integrity and honesty were currencies then. Politics was for the people's choice, and accountability was a minimum requirement for officeholders. |

TruthHurts1:That N100 was a lot of money back in 1979. I remember buying grilled meat (suya) for N20 back in 1982 and 2 of us could NOT even finish the large quantity. However, she and her spouse purchased a house in Satellite Town in Lagos State for N100 down payment through LOTS or BALLOTS. That Satellite Town area originally belonged to the indigenes of that area before being leased from them and compensations paid accordingly. As of the late 1960s my grandfather purchased a large plot of land (on lease) in Lagos for £20 and I saw the receipt back in the 1990s. |

AlphaTaikun:You are not far from the truth. This disproves the fact that N100 will be enough to buy a house then. |

KingDashx:Back then, nepa had started it's blackouts and most people were poor and broke and lived in slums and villages. Did I mention most people did not even have access to light and potable water. Apart from some cities, most people didn't enjoy then And armed robbery was a fact then. One army officer friend of my parents who owned a car then and used to give anyone lifts once didn't give a certain woman a lift in the late 1970s because he suspected she could be a plant for armed robbers. Only people who had university degrees and jobs and the rich enjoyed. University degree holders by the way were very few then compared to now. Nigeria was not a great country. Then, as now , we dey use oil money and loans to deceive ourselves . And when the oil prices fell in 1982, na so we come face reality. |

If it was easy to get 100 naira back then every tenants would have been a landlord. Meanwhile you can build house with 100 naira in 80s |
