On December 21, 2025, the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, conferred prestigious Yoruba chieftaincy titles during a colourful ceremony at the Alaafin's Palace in Oyo town, Oyo State, Nigeria.
Seyi Tinubu (son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and a barrister/businessman) received the title Okanlomo of Yorubaland. This title translates to "the beloved child" or "one dear to the hearts of all Yoruba people," symbolizing a custodian of Yoruba values, unity, cultural heritage, and affection within the Yoruba race.
Senator Abdul'aziz Yari Abubakar (former Governor of Zamfara State and current Senator representing Zamfara West) received the title Obaloyin of Yorubaland. This is described as an Eso Class chieftaincy title (a decorated military command rank, second to the Oyo Mesi kingmakers), representing love, compassion, justice, guardianship of the realm, and a bridge between physical and spiritual realms.

He’s already crowned a Yoruba leader so don’t be surprised when he comes out to be governor of Lagos state one day.
