For more clarity, the N20 well-garnished and tasty suya was purchased in 1982 for 2 of us just as I earlier indicated. It was a random suya purchase I made (but later discovered it was too much and should have been reduced to a lesser quantity). But I learned some hard lessons there which I NEVER forgot till date because I have a retentive memory and took the rest of the suya back to base. A bag of cement was an average of N20 to N50 back in the early 1980s NOT N10.

For more historical insights about the cost of imported cows sold in Nigeria as of 1982 to 1984 time frame, read more right BELOW

While exact 1982 Nigerian prices vary, data from slightly later (1984) shows imported cattle averaged around N781 per head, with massive imports suggesting high demand, indicating prices in the early 80s were significant but significantly lower than today's rates, reflecting Nigeria's economic shifts and reliance on livestock.

Key Insights from the Era:
High Imports: Nigeria heavily imported cattle (over 500,000 heads in 1984 alone), showing a large gap between local production and urban demand, especially in the South.

Price Indicators: By 1984, the average price for an imported head of cattle was roughly ₦781, suggesting prices in 1982 were in a similar range or slightly lower due to economic factors.

Economic Context: The early 1980s saw Nigeria's economy shifting, impacting food and livestock costs, with high import bills becoming a concern.

So, expect a cow in 1982 Nigeria to cost a few hundred Naira, likely below N1000, but the exact figure depends on breed, location, and market conditions, according to data from studies like the one published on {Link: CGSpace}.

Cc: @Juandedios, that's my reply to you right ABOVE.
Yea, anything's possible. But you must have been the Dangote of Nigeria then. Or maybe a soldier (you said something about returning to base). Soldiers, especially officers, used to ball a lot back then.

that money was just same amount as monthly minimum wage then.
so it was not that big.
it is just that our economy has been bastardized by these criminals in power both past and present.

Nigeria minimum wage is not supposed to be less than 350k by now if minimum wage in 1979 was N100.
N100 of 1979 is equivalent to around 390k now

There was housing lottery in Lagos in the late 70s & early 80s o. I grew up in festac and a number of people living there at the time were government workers and people that "won" their apartments at the lottery. That's what the government did with the blocks of flats and houses built specifically for Festac '77. I don't know how much the tickets were but it can't be more than N100 but you can only apply once. People applied with all the members of their family including babies
That is a claim
Anyone can. Claim anything
Do you have evidence
If you don't
Don't bother quoting me again

I said I lived amongst people that won their apartments via lottery you're still asking for evidence. People that live or have lived in Festac and neighbouring satellite town know the history

What is your problem
I do not believe your claim
If you don't have evidence then as far as I am concerned either you are telling lies or were lied to and believe the lies

Nigeria has never done a house lottery ever

Anyone telling you that is lying

Since we cannot agree the onus is on you to provide evidence or shutup and leave me in peace

You are now constituting a nuisance

I didn't know I was exchanging words with a mentally unstable. I hope your brain is sound enough to understand the simple English written in the screenshot below. Some residents of Festac "won" their apartments via balloting system which was done in a lottery format. Winning entries were posted in national dailies. If that's not enough evidence for you, go and ask your psychiatrists for evidence

So you are indeed a nuisance and weak emotionally

Let us be clear what we are talking about
Go back and read what you quoted
The truth is that there was a ballot because the houses were few and cheap
So demand was more than supply. People still had to pay for the houses

It was not a TICKET but a form. It was not only FESTAC but other FHA estates across Nigeria

People applied for houses and they paid for them . No one won a free house in a lottery
I sought to clarify that and made it clear from the beginning
if the applications were more than the houses due to supply there was a ballot
That will be the case for cheap government houses

There was never a lottery where people just won free houses for nothing
That I have been clear about from the beginning and I believe you have been arguing the opposite

Now if you are literate and have any sense go and read what you posted

There is a particular place the government demolished, and they are almost done with the reconstruction. I went there today to ask about the price, and I was almost blown away but I am very determined to get a shop there. I don't know how yet, but I know I will manage because I am goal-driven and not someone who gives up. I am not even talking about ten million; I am talking about real money.

Yes, prices are much higher now compared to before, but sometimes life is not about who is in administration; it is about who God favours. There were people who still did not succeed during those periods.

Determination, hard work, and prayer are key. Be determined to succeed, no matter the administration you find yourself under.
