Wow I never heard this before. The chairlift broke down during a sleet storm while I was riding down the mountain from a day of snow skiing up in the Mount Baldy resort in Southern California. An employee at the discount store’s Little Havana location reported discovering a "deceased woman inside the business" during opening hours at 8 a.m., the Miami Police Department told Fox News Digital on Monday. The woman was identified as 32-year-old Helen Massiell Garay Sanchez.

"Female was located inside a walk-in freezer/cooler located in the store’s stockroom," Public Information Officer Michael Vega said.

Sanchez was also naked when she was discovered, CBS News reported, citing police scanners.

"Complainant found a naked female in the cooler of the store," dispatchers were heard saying over police scanners.

It occurs in the late stages of hypothermia, when the body is actually freezing to death, but the person suddenly feels intensely hot and begins to remove clothing.



Why it happens (simple explanation)

Normally, when you’re cold:

Blood vessels constrict to keep heat in your core.


In advanced hypothermia:

The blood vessels suddenly fail and relax

Warm blood rushes to the skin

The brain misinterprets this as burning heat


So the person feels:

“I’m overheating”
when in reality, the body temperature is critically low.

In a way we can say the extremes of Cold and Hot temperature start to give the same effect on the body.

This is why it’s called paradoxical — the sensation is the opposite of reality.



Signs and symptoms that someone is approaching or already at this stage

1. Early hypothermia (warning stage)

Uncontrollable shivering

Cold, pale skin

Slurred speech

Clumsiness, dropping things

Fatigue and confusion

Poor decision-making
This is the last safe window for intervention.

2. Moderate hypothermia (danger stage)

Shivering becomes violent, then starts to weaken

Confusion worsens

Memory loss

Slow, shallow breathing

Weak pulse

Apathy (“I’m fine, leave me”)


People may begin to sit or lie down, which is dangerous.


3. Severe hypothermia (critical / near-death stage)

They did not tell us how she died and CCTV was said to have recorded it. If a man died on a road , they will say " he collapsed as he crossed the road ". Nobody would say there was no foul Play they will tell us exactly what the CCTV recorded

There should be an escape mechanism in these walk in freezers.

True. Something similar happened to an African-American lady, she was found dead, partially undressed in a hotel's walk-in freezer. The family suspected foul play but the CCTV footage proved otherwise. She stumbled in there drunk, alone and fully dressed. The death was an avoidable one because she called her mum that she was on her way home from the party at the hotel which was just a few minutes drive. When her mum didn't see her, she went to the hotel to ask if they've seen anybody matching her daughter's description leave the hotel but the hotel staff was very unhelpful. She asked for CCTV footage to check if she actually left the hotel, they told her to go and call the police. This was about an hour after she walked into the freezer and was possibly still alive. The police too were initially unhelpful telling her to wait a few more hours but she kept insisting the hotel must release the CCTV footage. By the time the footage got released and it was seen that she never left the hotel, it was already too late to save her. The lady's family sued the hotel and the state made it a law that CCTV footage must be made available on request especially in the case of a missing person be it child or adult.

Police said their was no foul play but investigations continues meaning it is not HOW she died they are investigating or WHO IS BEHIND IT.

But WHY?

This is Either A SUICIDE OR UNINTENTIONAL SUICIDE DUE TO DRUG USE , DEPRESSION OR ISSUES BEHIND COMPREHENSION TO THE LAY MAN.

Mistakes happen too. I remembered a man suffering from a sleeping sickness who got locked in an industrial oven. Man dead baked and crispy while in his sleep inside.

This things happens, my own point is how long has she been there and were there people already looking for her? If there were then surely she must have been traced to the shop? Which is not the case here.

This person might have lived a lonely or far off life.

A doctor for that matter who would probably be on call most times, just disappeared and no one put out an MIA on her.
The circumstances surrounding her death are intriguing itself.
It is well. My condolences to those she left behind.
