You fit do the complete breakdown of how this works?
The court cases often favours the landlord. In fact I haven't seen a case where the tenant wins unless the landlord didn't follow due process and engaged in self help

So the tenent lawyers main aim is to delay proceedings and buy time for their client. Once that is achieved or more time is no longer possible, they will ask the tenant to pack out before the matter is decided whether in their favour or not.

So as a landlord you want to avoid that.

Loool did this last year. Bredda, the money for event centre is not small play, and for people like me funding in forex, there's no chance of recouping. Not even half.

The good thing is that I did it to generate passive income for my parents, not as a business decision, cos gaddem grin grin grin grin
Generally rent business isn't profitable when you consider the cost of investment. This is including the event centre izzou pointed out. The real benefit is the value of the site not the rent collected.

From my experience, it is best to sell immediately you build and take your profit or just keep it for the next generation.

This is the man they say Nigerians should rally around and support his cry for a monopoly...volume no increase, but revenue dey increase by 42% from previous year.

"Dangote has achieved EBITDA margin of 59% in Nigeria, compared with global cement giants like Holcim (24% margin), Cemex (19%), Heidelberg (26%), Ambuja (19%), and Anhui Conch (23%)."

Anything he cannot monopolize, he drops it quickly.

When Flour Mills and the others pressed his neck, he dropped it and ran.

I think the same went for iron rods too.

6 Brigade Nigerian Army in Taraba State have recorded a major operational breakthrough with the arrest of a notorious bandit leader responsible for multiple kidnapping and armed robbery incidents along the Benue–Taraba axis.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is closely linked to Aka Dogo, a wanted armed group leader, and is believed to be the ringleader of a criminal network that has terrorised travellers and communities along the Kente -Wukari Road and adjoining border areas between Benue and Taraba States.

Why are companies declaring more profits with lower sales volume?

This pattern is not “economic recovery.” It’s price-led profit, not volume-led growth.

1. Aggressive price increases
•Inflation + FX devaluation forced companies to reprice hard
•Cement, FMCGs, fuel, food - prices went up multiple times
•Even if you sell less, each unit now brings in far more naira

In the image:
Volumes ↓ 2.1%
Revenue ↑ 23%
That gap = price hikes

2. Naira devaluation inflates “profits”
•Earnings are reported in naira
•FX collapse makes naira revenue look huge, even when real value hasn’t improved
•If costs are partially fixed or lag FX, margins expand artificially

This is accounting profit, not purchasing-power profit

3. Cost pass-through + cost cutting
•Companies passed almost all cost increases to consumers
while simultaneously:
•Cutting staff
•Reducing marketing
•Shutting marginal SKUs
•Centralizing operations

Result?
Higher EBITDA margins on lower volumes

4. Market concentration & weak competition
•Many consumers are “captive”
•Cement, food staples, fuel = inelastic demand
•People complain but still buy

When competition is weak, volume doesn’t matter as much as pricing power

5. Nigeria’s “profit illusion”
What we’re seeing is:
•Nominal profit ↑
•Real consumption ↓
•Household purchasing power ↓

So companies LOOK healthy…
But the economy underneath is shrinking

⚠️ Why this is dangerous
•It’s not sustainable
•At some point:
- Demand cracks
- Substitutes appear
- Smuggling increases
- Informal markets grow

Bottom line
These profits are not proof of recovery.
They are proof of:
•Inflation
•FX shock
•Pricing power
•Weak competition
•Consumers absorbing the pain

📌 Real recovery is higher volumes + stable margins
📌 What we have is lower volumes + inflated margins

Two very different stories.

Leave global cement giants. Compare those metrics to BUA and Lafarge. That would give us a more realistic and complete picture.

I traveled on Tuesday

We spent more than 1 hour from Ladipo to Oshodi (after Lastma Office).

One of the major problems are the ongoing road constructions. That's what's causing hours of traffic at Sagamu and Benin

You expect over 1000 or more vehicles to pass one lane. When one vehicle breaks down there (of which the probability is high), the whole place becomes something else.

People spent more than 7 hours at Benin Byepass two days ago.

Is there any other route

If the traffic isn't long, just take the first exit at Benin Byepass, to join Benin/Auchi Expressway

You'll take the exit at Ehor till you get to a place called Ugoneki...That's like the last two or three towns before you enter Delta state. Just activate your map on Auchi Expressway to Ugoneki. It's straight forward.

There's still another heavy traffic at Asaba too.

Before you reach Onitsha, all your strength would have been drained
