Vision101:Chain. For God's sake, how much is coolant? 5k for a vehicle that costs millions is not too much to spend, but hey, what do I know. |

Nteogwuija:Check your car manual or google online. Different colours of radiator coolant are meant for different applications. The pink coolant is standard for Toyota cars from 2014 upwards. Also, never ever mix different types of coolants - it would mess up your engine. If you are unsure of what coolant is in your car, drain the radiator before inputting. |

BlackKafka:Can I pour in the coolant when there's still water in the radiator? And how often do I have to put coolant? |
| Re: How Nigerian Drivers Destroy Their Car Engines Without Knowing It by Realteeyee123(m): 3:02am On Dec 23, 2025 |
Fkj202004:So certain coolant are a 50/50 mix and it’s pre mixed so you don’t use water again while some are concentrate, for those you can use water and mix with it . So depending on the coolant you have . |

BlackKafka:So true , water alone isn’t just ideal at all and causes lots of damage |
| Re: How Nigerian Drivers Destroy Their Car Engines Without Knowing It by Vision101(m): 3:27am On Dec 23, 2025 |
BlackKafka:5k coolant can't fill a radiator. Can it? Just interested in learning. |

Realteeyee123:Thank you. How often do I use coolant? |

juwoonn:Don't be quick to call women. Some use their cars well... Same goes in Nigerian roads no gender involve in Nigerians' poor maintenance culture. Currently looking at the solar street lights with batteries in our cities and towns. Notice no plans to replace the batteries or even check if it's working or not. When we have CNG and electric cars one can deduce from this culture of ours that things about to get ugly or even worse. |

ibechris:All cars need to warm up at least 1 minute before driving out. The engines are mechanical components and need to be lubricated before driving. A report carried out by a company concerning catastrophic car engine damages, they found out that these damage usually occurs during engine start up and warming up. For me, after start up, I allow the rev needle to move to below 1000rx, before engaging the gears. |

Gotocourt:You mean removing the thermostat in order to save fuel ? |
| Re: How Nigerian Drivers Destroy Their Car Engines Without Knowing It by Dynamicboss: 10:10am On Dec 23, 2025 |
Hotguy27:You said it correctly. I use full synthetic oil that mechanics say it last for 6months but due to many factors such as dust (as you mentioned), traffic, hot weather, etc.. I changed it between 2-3months. It’s expensive but my engine performance is top notch. Same for gear maintenance, I do it twice in a year. |

pak:yes it was back in the day. nowadays it has little or no impact on modern cars, however if you have the time, allow the car reach idling rpm before moving. |

Can I top my radiator with coolant knowing that it’s water in-it |
| Re: How Nigerian Drivers Destroy Their Car Engines Without Knowing It by Realteeyee123(m): 2:26pm On Dec 23, 2025 |
Fkj202004:So usually it’s changed every 5 years or 100k kilometres, some manufacturers recommend 60k kilometers change, check your owners manual if you don’t have a physical copy in your glove compartment box , check it online . But always always always USE THE RECOMMENDED COOLANT AND NEVER EVER USE A GENERIC OR UNIVERSAL BRAND ONLY RECOMMENDED COOLANT SHOULD BE USED PKEASE. |
| Re: How Nigerian Drivers Destroy Their Car Engines Without Knowing It by Realteeyee123(m): 2:27pm On Dec 23, 2025 |
GVTAsiwaju:Depends if it’s a 50/50 mix don’t , drain the water and use only coolant, if you using a concentrate then yes but regardless a drain and refill is always better to do . |
| Re: How Nigerian Drivers Destroy Their Car Engines Without Knowing It by Realteeyee123(m): 2:28pm On Dec 23, 2025 |
Emeka71:Nop, it actually doesn’t save fuel and makes the engine work more and die faster |
| Re: How Nigerian Drivers Destroy Their Car Engines Without Knowing It by Realteeyee123(m): 2:29pm On Dec 23, 2025 |
HenryWilliams:Exactly and correct, though always drive gently for 2-3 minutes first before hitting full throttle. Highly recommended in modern engines for longevity |
| Re: How Nigerian Drivers Destroy Their Car Engines Without Knowing It by Realteeyee123(m): 2:32pm On Dec 23, 2025 |
Dynamicboss:While it’s really impressive , I always advise change oil in miles driven to a large extent for instance every 5k miles (8,000km) is highly recommended for engine longevity and only use synthetic oil and the right viscosity as stated in your owners manual or on the oil cap . Only exception to this rule is if you don’t drive much or often so if for instance you’ve driven 5,000km in 7 months change the oil regardless, cause even though you haven’t driven up to 8k kilometers, oil generally break down and degrade even when not in use |

Femeto:Lol how does that work and why was the AC then put in the first place |
| Re: How Nigerian Drivers Destroy Their Car Engines Without Knowing It by Realteeyee123(m): 3:02pm On Dec 23, 2025 |
calabaman:Lol didn’t even see that post lol. So so untrue , in fact if you driving long distance using your AC , you actually save gas compared to not using AC reason is due to drag and all. Also in modern cars not necessary to always put off your AC or on when you off your car and put it on , makes no difference car is designed for that. Anything you do always ask or check the engineering design behind it and reason why instead of listening to some roadside mechanic that can’t use an OBd2 scanner correctly . No offence , I rather listen to those that designed the car than spare parts sellers |

Realteeyee123:Exactly. I just smilled and shrugged off the comment. If you don't know...you don't know. |

Rayd502:You can reach out to me via dru23@hotmail.com for pricing...... There are more fake Mobil 1 currently in the market now than original. And yes I have spotted few fakes on Jumia that I can easily spot, and now these fakes are getting better that even me is confused 🤔. We are on social media Tiktok and I show my followers how to scan for authencity. Scanning your product is very important and knowing what to look for. If people read and pay attention there will be less fakes in the market.... We can also bring other brands of your choice. The most popular is Valvoline restored and protect
