Hello Nairalanders,

I want to introduce something we’ve been building for a long time — and I strongly believe it will change the way Nigerians send and receive money.

We all know how frustrating banking apps can be:
– “Network error.”
– “Transaction failed.”
– “Try again later.”
– USSD not loading.
– Internet issues, especially in crowded places or remote areas.

What if sending money didn’t depend on network or USSD?
What if transferring funds was as simple and instant as sending a file via Bluetooth?

That’s exactly what we built.

Introducing Runteller — Send & Receive Money With or Without Network

Runteller is a new mobile payment app designed for real Nigerian conditions.
It allows you to send and receive money using multiple technologies, including:

Bluetooth (Yes, real offline transfers)
Peer-to-peer device connection
Regular online transfer when network is available
Fallback systems that work even when USSD fails

This means your money can move anytime, anywhere, even if the internet or bank network is misbehaving.

The Goal

We’re building Runteller to solve a Nigerian problem with a Nigerian solution:
Unstable network should never stop your money.

If you’ve ever been stranded because “transfer never drop,” then you already understand the problem we are solving.

We are aware of this and that is why we allow bank transfers both for short distance and long distance. Please try it.

Please note that Bluetooth is just one way to send money, we implemented several ways you can send money Runteller Wifi included.

bluetooth is less secure and very easy for a 12 years kid to tinker with. wifi is more or less

why make it rely on radio and mesh , node to node utilizing proof of work, just typixal alice and bob situation

No chit. I own a "fintech", and I know the amount of batchit regulations and barriers I chop from CBN and existing payment gateways. Explain how you'll deduct my money if I refuse to come back online. That's what users will be worried about.

Its a good idea but your protocol must transmit data encrypted.Also you need to have a way to generate keys that can be used to encyrpt the payload and the receiving party needs to be able to verify it. I am not sure you have thought about all the pros and cons. But nice idea all the same.

I did. I was making recommendations because am sure they probably did not put into mind the weakness of bluetooth or wifi. Both can be easily intercepted.

What about distance.

It's possible to allow one withdraw a percentage of the balance on his account and later reconcile it once network is reinstalled. And similar for the receiving account.
