Seyi Makinde says he nominated a minister for Tinubu and he rejected it. Wondered why Tinubu will reject someone like Bimbo Adekambi who was a good commissioner under the late Ajimobi for the minister of darkness called Adelabu. Tinubu should relieve him of his duties by Jan make he go focus on the governorship election that I pray he lose |

Meanwhile Mr Wale Edun is most likely gone. He will probably resign as Minister due to Health issues in Jan or Feb. They've already taken revenue and disbursement away from him to Madam Anita, the Minister of State for Finance who will most likely be made the substantive minister of finance and the coordinating minister of the economy. |

larride:Adelabu is better than anyone that can be nominated even than Bimbo Adekambi Based on resume and pre politics achievements, Adelabu towers above most people in Oyo politics |

Tochex101:Power is one of the hardest portfolio in Nigeria with a lot of visibility to all Nigerians and from the Dangote refinery experience you can tell the challenges of making things work Someone like Fashola who many say has been one of the best governors ever didnt make the same difference as minister of Power |

raumdeuter:His portfolio is majorly in Finance and management in CBN. He has been woeful as a Minister and should be relieved of his duties. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 8:05pm On Dec 23, 2025 |
larride:well, this is the thing Power issues in nigeria are not a technical problem - they are a money problem if you have been running your house with a 15 year old generator that can only carry 1/3rd of the house and you have also not been able to upgrade your mains wire, you will have frequent power issues. our power infrastructure is old, it has not kept up with our requirements and the govt has been subsidizing it. we have seen ibimes monthly power bill. the other problem is legacy power discos with institutionalized corruption and incompetence. your average disco is full of corrupt ex nepa workers who sabotage within and without. |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 8:37pm On Dec 23, 2025 |
larride:More of the ministers work is management and not necessarily technical How to manage budget, manage legacy infrastructure and especially manage people and complex politics of Nigeria If the Dangote oil has taught us anything its that the cabal are real and layered Multiple layers of cabal dey this Naija wey be say na only a deep cabalite like Dangote sef don turn podcaster and frequent wailer Even Buhari and his family see cabal structure wey pass their power We think Nigerian problem is easy or flip a switch its way deeper. In US when Elon brought his private sector energy to Govt see how he fared now think of in a Nigeria with our complexity where we are used to anyhowness |

raumdeuter:That ministry should be renamed Ministry of Principalities and Powers. Bola Ige was also humbled in that place before he was moved to Attorney General. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 8:46pm On Dec 23, 2025 |
GloriousGbola:Power generation and distribution is capital intensive so needs money 70% of Nigerian household cannot really afford to pay for what they consume, Another part of the population simply bypass metering and get power for free So the burden of the power use have to be on the 20% that can afford to pay to carry all those who cannot or refuse to pay for power So here comes govt subsidies to buffer everything. And when govt money comes, people will never get tired of it and will keep increasing Now try to take off the govt money from their mouth, before we start talking of the generator cabal or the Diesel suppliers. You will likely be killed before you can resolve power issues |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by larride(m): 8:53pm On Dec 23, 2025 |
GloriousGbola:Might be true but we haven't seen any improvement from him one bit. Even with the Band nonsense he introduced, he just gave Discos an avenue to exploit Nigerians without the commensurate power. At least we saw how Fashola tried to improve the sector, the Siemens deals and the likes, what exactly can we point to as Adelabu major input into that ministry? |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by larride(m): 8:55pm On Dec 23, 2025 |
raumdeuter:I agree with some of your points and disagree with the others. Adelabu has not implemented one single policy to move that ministry forward. At least policy making and direction is under his purview, he has done absolutely nothing. I pray he get APC ticket for Oyo 2027 and lose scandalously in the general election, maybe he will retire away from politics in general. |

Tochex101:Power has actually improved in my environment over the course of 2 years, infact from September till now we've been on 18 to 20 hours daily. I don't know which of the Bus to give credit to, Bala or Adela ![]() |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Tochex101(m): 9:40pm On Dec 23, 2025 |
raumdeuter:We must not sit on our hands still, I'm sure the power sector has been one of the greatest beneficiaries in the budget allocation for the last 8 years. I dare say there hasn't been upto 4% progress. What sort of voodoo shit are they doing with all that money? |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Tochex101(m): 9:51pm On Dec 23, 2025 |
KingTom:Lucky you.....if we take a thread census now,the data would be easy to analyze. As yours peaked, some others plummeted and in some people's case it remained static. We can't say things have gotten better with this monthly grid collapse or power infrastructure vandalism which takes multiple months to put right. Millions of people remained in perpetual darkness in some northern states for many months this year, heck I think I even remember reading about the woes of bayelsans recently too. |

GloriousGbola:actually, it is both buhari gave siemens a deal in 2019 to revamp the backbone of the power sector the plan was to upgrade transmission to 25GW by 2025 not mere expansion, but a full-on get-in-the-weeds anything that is past its use-by date will be taken out funding would be provided by the world's largest national development bank -- the german KfW financing was a single-digit loan payable directly to siemens as the project progresses all nigeria had to do was provide counterpart funding of tens of millions and pay the interest on the cheap loan corruption is not a factor today is two days to christmas and we are no where near 25GW the germans used covid as an excuse i bet they'd use the data center power crunch as a new excuse at the turn of the year the chinese would have done it cheaper, faster, and with the exact same funding structure their electrical supply chain is immune to whatever is happening in the west if a nation of nigeria's stature does not have a dependable 25GW grid, no one is coming in the chinese partners ote$ invited to fund geregu expansion have their hearts in their mouths because the only reason why they're not historic bagholders is because of the sweetheart GENCO deal that could be torched at any time they look at the gas players and think "f*ck, that could be us" Nnaji's geometric foreign investors are f*cked they invested when $ was less than 150/$ blew past budget and timelines and have to recoup at 1500/$ forget about those who were leveraged if they weren't racist before, they would be after nigeria happened to them if the chinese with their 2% refi rates are seeing hell who at enel, schneider, or constellation will sell FX bonds to raise cash to invest here when they are having a bonanza in north america and serious emerging economies yet, we desperately need the expertise of these world class players i'll commend adelabu for not succumbing to pressure on the bands but much of the ministry is operating on auto pilot as there are too many structural issues for instance, the south is subsidizing the rest of the country only the lagos DISCOs are semi economically viable Yola EDC in particular should be disconnected from the grid everyone in that service area should be told to go buy solar the core investor the GEJ administration sold YEDC to asked for their money back within 4 months of buhari's government as of 2023, 9 of the 11 discos were functionally bankrupt from 2013 to 2019, the discos reported losses of N2T at pre-tinubu subsidized exchange rate Emefiele sank N1.2T as interventions in seven years and it barely made a dent the numbers are improving after introduction of bands but the GEJ sold the DISCOs to cronies myth unraveled the banks/investors that took over troubled discos have had their etisalat/9mobile moment the most straightforward way to fix power in nigeria is to do what eisenhower did with the interstate highway system the federal government follows through on an initiative where foreign development banks + swfs provide the funding, the federal government is the final backstop of the loan (however large it is), and foreign power companies are invited and contracted to do the buildout the reason why this is a fever dream is that nigeria is not creditworthy five years into such a project, and that is a conservative number, we will start begging for debt relief and forgiveness in the absence of that, we will keep using duct tape. rainy season (hydro), and inshallah to fix power if you like, clone nikola tesla and make him the power minister, he ain't performing no miracles -Lord |
