Happy for Mr. Sunday Jackson but it is already too late for the Law in Nigeria...The Supreme Court messed up by upholding the death penalty in this case. It was at that point i realised judgements are not based on the letter of the law. How do these Judges sleep at night?

He collected the knife during the struggle, how far will he run injured b4 the Fulani man catches him again. How do u know the herdsman has no other machete to finish the job.

No. Our laws need to be ammended . The Supreme Court interpreted it as it is . The young man made a mistake of putting it in his statement that he collected the knife then proceeded to stab him. The law says at that point he had the advantage and when he stabbed the guy he committed murder .

Now the lesson here is if you are ever in that situation, just say during the struggle you really don't know how the attacker got stabbed. Never admit to any decisive action because it might be used against you .

He has the right to self-defense and has no business staying locked up for more than few days after investigations.

The judge that passed that initial sentence should be ashamed of his self.

The herdsman coming back is not a guarantee in law to murder someone. The young man committed a crime simple. Emotions don't have a place in law. Nobody is supporting evil, just been truthful.

He disarmed the herdsman after getting stabbed twice—once in the leg. The herdsman then picked up a stick and continued to attack him, that was when the killed the herdsman.

that true, but policeman is trained, and if a policeman notice that criminal was similar to some who just killed 100 policeman unko, he should just watch and arrest 😉 as he is alone. There is nothing wrong with our laws and there are contless cases all over the world where such satiations have happened.
You are basically teaching murderers how to escape being convicted after committing a murder.
