https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wr1RpZuQSq8?si=aRuIdzjEhxnO2pMA A Nigerian man has sparked outrage online after exposing alleged daylight robbery at Asaba Airport, where an airport taxi reportedly demanded ₦35,000 for a hotel located directly opposite the airport. The traveler, who returned to Nigeria for Christmas, described the short trip as a simple “turn, turn, turn” drive, raising fresh concerns about airport transport extortion, holiday travel exploitation, and passenger harassment in Nigeria. |

The fare is not fair at all. Na drug lords and politicians dey promote the nonsense for Nigerian airports. Again, average workers at Nigerian airports are greedy, not just the taxi driver. To solve the problem, attack the authorities of motor parks and airport authorities first. Transport fare must have increased this Christmas period even as fuel price did not go up. This is because the authorities of motor parks increase their levies this period. |

I saw the video but the guy did not say which type of car he wanted to charter. He might be pricing limousine like that When he knew the distance was short, why did he approach taxi? |

It’s honestly crazy. Transporters are exploiting everyone without shame. This same thing is happening everywhere. Here in Lagos, transport fares have doubled even after fuel prices dropped. At this point, it’s no longer about cost, we are simply wicked to ourselves. This is pure greed. If we don’t start holding ourselves accountable, we’ll keep being our own worst enemies. |

That driver is a kidnapper. Paying N35k for that short trip is like paying ransom for your release and not transport fare. In fact that is ransom fare |

Kelle443:They force you? Make you carry your load and trek to the hotel nau. Airport taxis are expensive everywhere coupled with high seasonal demand. It's basic economics of supply and demand in action. |

Na you want enter airport taxi now. In 2022, I travelled from Lagos to Asaba and the airport taxi guys were telling me 7k to my place. I just hang my bag for back, trek come out for the airport gate, enter bus to Koka junction I think for 400, then from Koka, I enter 300 to my village Ibusa, and another 100 for bike to my house. No be by force to enter airport taxi. |

Correct guy ...walk. He could've done so from jump instead of trying to take taxi.... but ... I strongly believe that he knowing the economy is bad ... wanted to patronize the taxi driver... but was shocked to find the driver wanted to exploit him. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise...because such a taxi driver will have no problem in calling his people to intercept his car and kidnap the passenger . This makes it bad for other taxi drivers. If this one had charged him a reasonable fare ... I'm almost sure the guy would be making him his chauffeur for the season. Greed .... our biggest problem. |

The rule of the thumb is that you should never patronize airport cabs most especially if you're on a low budget cos they're insanely expensive. Anytime I land in Lagos, whether MM1 or MM2, I simply wheel my luggage outside the airport gate to the bus stop and book an Uber from there. Using airport cabs to my house costs between 20k – 30k, but once I step outside the airport and book Uber, I usually pay between 8k – 12k, depending on traffic. You can’t really blame the airport cab drivers too much though. They pay heavily for parking space, access permits, registration, and all those airport charges. So they pass the cost to passengers. But still, 35k for a distance that’s basically a stone’s throw from the airport is just madness. Next time, he should just come out of the airport and use Uber or Bolt. Your wallet will thank you. |

This is the first time in a long time that inflation is under control during Christmas. Food items and flight tickets are under control. Whatever Tinubu is doing is working. Before and during Buharis time Christmas has fuel inflation or scarcity. Ironically, things are coming down during Christmas instead going up as usual. Fuel came down, flight ticket cam down, food ingredients came down. Dangote just crashed fuel to #740 in Lagos. Thank God for Tinubu. Advantage of having a competent man as president. Though he has not solved all our problems, there are indications he would solve them one after another. Promises made to Super Eagles and others are being redeemed. There is hope for this country under Tinubu. Atiku and Obi should go and sit down for one place. |
