so me that work, i should be paying tax for all the market women also working.

they also collect vat from me like the market woman but the market woman do not pay tax on her own income but me that work is paying tax on my income

so it is fair that because she is a market woman she shouldnt pay any tax while i should pay tax for her

abeg let everyone pay their oown share.
They aren't using this tax money for whatever it should be used for. They aren't na.

Nigeria can sustain itself financially without even tax money in the first place . They should fix thr loop holes, fix the system, fight corruption to a stand still. We will pay this tax without much hassle.

When people se what government are doing for them. They will be glad to pay this tax . It's unfair to pay to the government and it keeps getting looted every now and then

you obviouly dont understand the tax law.

before minimum wage was 70k, in the old tax law, you pay 15% of the 840k

in the new tax law. if your yearly pay is 840k, you pay tax on only 40k

so what are you talking about
You are the one that doesn't understand. This is the one they want you to see. What of the many other new direct and indirect taxes they introduce into the bill. What has they said about preventing government officials from looting the taxes which is the norm.
The whole idea is to bring Alpha bata to the federal level, no benefits to Nigerian people.

The NLC is not helping matters at all.
why tax so high when the country doesn’t add any value?

It’s obvious majority don’t pay tax so they care less.

I know like 50 people that paid tax over 20-30m yearly

I do not hope to cross path with your likes. I have no insulted anyone with my post. I did only ask questions . If you can't provide answers to the questions, you needn't reply.
You are asking if I have ever paid tax. That's funny . As an employee or as a business owner . Which? Because, both applies to me .
So, the government subsiding electricity, education and Healthcare means that it shouldn't work well?

Ghana has better power supply than Nigeria.
Education. Isn't even up to par.
Healthcare? Please don't go there. Even the doctors are leaving Nigeria en mass.

So, tell me what exactly one is enjoying in Nigeria to be happy to pay this tax. I should be paying the huge tax so that politicians can be living fat on it right?

Money from fuel subsidy removal, where is it going to?

My earlier post, you didn't answer my questions.
I don't answer unintelligent question.

As if we have choice. The present NLC has long been decimated and reduced to the toothless bulldog by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Bros, go find out for yourself. But I am telling you with authority that there are new direct and indirect taxes in the bill. There are many other inconsistencies in the bill. It will be like the Local government autonomy which Tinubu won in court but can't implement. Just watch.

30 billion taxes generated. Is it from there Yahaya Bello and the likes are stealing from ?

@ Bolded

Heavy taxation without services is unfair
Most Nigerians already struggle with:
Poor electricity
Bad roads
Inadequate healthcare
High inflation and unemployment
Asking people to pay significantly more without visible benefits:
Deepens poverty
Increases informal economic activity
Encourages tax evasion
Fuels public anger and distrust
Taxation only works when citizens believe “I get value for my money.”
Taxation funds the services; Nigeria cannot continue to have a budget based on oil exports. A tax-driven economy will force all state and local governments to contribute to the government.

The tax reform is designed to broaden the collection of tax and not penalise low-paying Nigerians.

As the government grows, it will expand the tax base and increase its budget. if Nigeria capture 18% of tax recipt that will add $60 billion to the budget.

How about the mismanaged funds ? The corrupt practices?

Not against taxation. Until governance improves, heavy taxation will only worsen Nigeria's problems.

It is important for the NLC to take a stand by rejecting this policy and leading the public in peaceful protest against the proposed tax regime by the APC government.
The job of NLC is to reject ANY government policy until they are settled. I don't know what is so special in paying taxes that we have being paying before now. Infact, the taxes are now reduced and better harmonized.

For me, this is the best government I have been privileged to witness in Nigeria for the following reasons.
1. I had to beg 2 of my children to apply for student loans, they refused because they claim to be Obidients and that Tinubu is just deceiving the populace about the loan. After a long persuasion, they applied and they both got the loan. For your information, I am not a politician and I don't believe in ANY politician.

2. I currently stay in Akute, Ogun state. For the first time in several years, government repaired all the 4 roads leading to Akute and they are still repairing 1 now. Activities around Akute axis has increased tremendously because of this.

I am one of the people who used to swear for Dapo about Ogun roads but not any more. I don't know whether other state governors are
repairing their roads o. Tell me one good reason why I will not support tax payment. We don't need any useless and corrupt NLC in Akute for any reason.

The government has been mismanaging state funds, especially funds linked to the oil and gas industry, for over 50 years, and we haven't done anything because it is not really our money.

Let's steal our tax money, and all hell will break loose. The return from oil export is too low that Tinubu has been forced to implement these Tax Reforms or else the World Bank and the IMF will pull their loans

@ Bolded. Are you saying we should look away while the government mismanage this funds and allow the tax law so it can br mismanaged too?

Don't you think we need to block all these loopholes first. We need to make sure money made is being used for what it's intended for. I swear, we won't complain if the government spends this money judiciously and deals heavily with whoever steals or try to steal public funds.

The people have to have faith in the government for effective taxation.

The new tax law won't solve our problems. In fact it will add to it. It's like trying to fix a car with an engine problem by buying tires first .

In my honest opinion, there’s absolutely nothing impressive about this present government. If governance is truly about the wellbeing of the citizens, then we must judge it based on its impact on people’s lives — and right now, the reality is harsh.
Cost of living has become unbearable. The price of food, transportation, education, healthcare and basic necessities has gone far beyond the reach of ordinary Nigerians. Our earning power has badly reduced because salaries no longer have value due to inflation and poor economic policies that are not yielding any meaningful result.
Corruption under this administration has gone through the roof; almost every government parastatal is engulfed in massive financial scandals with very little accountability. Insecurity has also worsened — kidnappings, banditry and general fear for safety have become a daily experience for many Nigerians.
Let’s not forget campaign promises: dollar was promised at ₦1 to $1, fuel subsidy removal was tagged as a pathway to economic stability, yet the naira keeps crashing and fuel has become gold. Businesses are shutting down, unemployment is rising, poverty is spreading rapidly.
Government is not about fixing one or two roads. It is about improving the quality of life for the majority. On that score, this APC government has failed Nigerians woefully.
