Most of the things u see free are donated by well to do pple , some are not even Christians but to help less privileged. Some people and company donate to reduce their taxes.some shops also give out stuffs that people don’t buy and some foods that are some month to expiry.many pple don’t know this, there are lots of things behind every free things. Some churches abroad gets support even from govt.the system abroad is regulated, very Money is monitored, even money that churches get from members.that is why most black churches are not registered, cos they don’t want to account for what they get and how they spend money. The Nigeria environment is different and not all churches can support their members. |

immortalcrown:That is correct. I go to an Anglican Church and they never ask for tithe. If you want to pay tithe or offering or any donations, you tap at a machine to pay. All offerings for the day go to specific charities chosen each month from those that the church supports, some of which are in Kenya, India, etc. if you want to give the church anything. You can also pay tithes and offerings via an app. |

Well, there are kind hearted people even here in Nigeria, some believe in God but not in religions. There used to be a time, some people look for every opportunity to feed the poor in front of their houses. They stopped when burglars started mixing with the crowd. Op, I feel sorry because there are desperate Africans these days looking for food and shelter. It used to be a shame and you have to be desperate to look for toys, food and shelter. It is not only the poor that are desperate these days abroad. I wonder if they ever recover from Covid19 days when beautiful cars lined up a mile to get free food. |

nairalanda1:Following "Christ" entails seeking leaders whose actions matched their words......you can't just follow anyone and claim you're following Christ...... infact, you've been mandated to not just ignore evil/wrong doing but to call it out and fight it. When the head is rotten.....you know what they say becomes of the body. |

Mattswaggz:Yes true, but like what I have always said, Poverty ,Ignorance and the will to not bother to ask question fuels the narrative as described by you. Steve Harvey in his show openly told a pastor off that he will never pay first fruit and he asked the guy, Do you know what my salary is? and do you know what 10% of my income is? |

fastseo:Maybe they see Poverty written all over you and think you are very Hungry and Deprived, which is how they perceive most Black Immigrants and incase you dont now, the White folks (and probably everyone) derives a sense of satisfaction, a sense of being empowered and a sense of superiority, when they do these "giving out Alms to the less privileged" immigrants and the Poor, even if the same person will take actions that will inflict pain on you the next minute or are the ones even responsible for your poor state, in the first place. When it is said that "The Hand of the Giver is Always on Top", it is a description of that sense of Superiority and Satisfaction of being "Economically Better than these Poor Immigrants". ![]() My Prayer has always been that God should not allow me to face any situation that will make me to go and 'beg' for food, from the courtyard of my 'enemy'. God has been Faithful. I pray God will elevate you too, to a position where you can be giving out food and other forms of Alms |

Dont forget is another man that gave it to the church. Is simply give for some people and receiving for some other people. Same thing is applicable in some churches in Nigeria here. |

erico2k2:Hmmmmm.....and not to even mention how this kind of mentality is one of the major causes of Nigeria's backwardness today. Politicians would steal money of live TV and come and run campaign and you'll see people in numbers cheering him on and some defending online.....same applies to Religious leaders and celebrities..... it's the very people that should make them feel they did wrong that'll be cheering them on and backing them then turn around to lament on how the country is getting worst ignoring their own contributions to the rot. Life is simple....what you sow is what you reap ...you can't sow stupidity and evil and hope that praying all day will change the outcome of the harvest. |

writeprof:This has nothing to do with churches but has to do with culture. Westerners often have far less responsibilities than Nigerians/Africans. They are more affluents and only responsible for the welfare of their 1, 2 or at most 3 children. When they died, they often will their fortune to their churches, charities or their old school. This is how many of them have money to do these charity program. Some of them also apply for welfare program grants from government through their charity organizations. Many people here complaining about tithes, don't pay tithes . White people pay their tithes religiously. Part of the culture is the embarrassment or shock some of our people attending predominantly western church experience when they lose loved their parent. I witnessed a situation at the party of a deceased Nigerian. One of the children was attending majority white church. while the siblings and the deceased attends a Nigerian Church. At the burial party, may be five people of African origin came to the party with her. meanwhile a lot of church members followed her siblings. Her church only gave her card. One is not better than the other. We all have a way of doing our own charity work. A single 30 yrs old Nigerian making $50,000 a year may be paying school fees in Nigerian for 2 kids and a white person making $100,000 only responsible for him/herself alone. |

There is no target colour or race or age as to who goes there rather those in need go there, white blue red whatever you look like, Make Una get sense small its almost 2026. |

Mattswaggz:Good point, but one has to follow Christ himself, not leaders, or looking forgood leaders. Following leaders whose actions match their words can be as wrong as following pastor enterpreneurs and tithe looters. Because at the end, we are all humans, and humans fail. I don't think I ever recommended ignoring or not exposing evil by the way. |

fastseo:Daystar did it while I was younger. We were asked to bring old items we didn’t use any longer but were okay— even shoes and clothes and we took it a location at ikeja. The whole community was present and we’re picking what they wanted. They even organized free healthcare services for a week. That was also commendable. |
