that's cos of the route, if all things being equal, direct road will show that difference you mentioned. My home town is Otukpo, from Otukpo to Abuja via Owetor-Nasarawa road takes less time than from Otukpo to Abuja via Makurdi-Lafia road despite the bad nature of the Otukpo-Owetor-Nasarawa road.

It says from Asaba to Abuja, you are already in asaba you don't need to pass brnin again on your way to Abuja.

Same on Nigerian leaders for not connecting these states with a Railway system to make inter state work and home away style a thing. Shame on them all!! See distances that are not even up to a breath of what is obtainable in India or china that have reliable train networks.

Where did you get this data? Even from the map you posted, it indicates damaturu is closed to Abuja than Maiduguri and here you are saying damaturu is far away from Abuja than Maiduguri

That is the question, it is about journey from state capitals , it was not talking about state, the response is to explain to him why a journey that passed through benin becomes shorter than the benin itself , and make him understand that the benin route is not the only route,
It might be safer, more motorable , but not the only route.

When going to/from Asaba to Abuja you don't go through Benin City. They pass through Uromi to join the Benin - Auchi road at Ewu.
Going through Benin will be like an Israelite journey.

I think The distance was measured as the Crow flies, not road distance.

I doubt the integrity of this table. How can Damaturu (957km) be farther to Abuja than Maiduguri (918km). Damaturu is over 1hr journey to Maiduguri

I use railway most times and I have to travel down to Agbor/Warri to use the train station going to Kogi State. When the train gets to Ajaokuta/Itakpe, Abuja is just 3hrs away.

Good attempt, however, the data is not absolutely correct.

From Abuja to:
Ilorin 482km
Ado-Ekiti 480km
Osogbo 428km
Akure 420km

Osogbo to Akure distance by time is around or slightly more than two hours which means at 60km/hour, it's greater appropriately 120km.
But from your table, it's just 8km apart!

Let me leave the rest for other analysts to check.
