What is peculiar about N10,000+ in e-banking system that is justifying N50 flat fee?
This is the same pattern they used to loot Lagos via Apha-Beta Consulting.
The same amount of bandwith, processor resources, network resources, himan resources and input needed for a N1,000 transfer is what is needed for a N10,000,000 transfer, so why did N50 flat fee had to creep in at N10,000+?

Opay don't charge the sender, but the receiver, from next year, both the sender and receiver will pay N50.
Currently only the receiver pays the N50, from next year, the sender will start paying it,.
What it means is that if you are sending N10,000+ to your love ones, bank will charge a total of N100, N50 from u and N50 from them.
Example, if you want to send N10000 for something urgent, you have to have N10100, then you will send N10050, bank will deduct 50 from your account, when it reach the receiver, they will get N10,000 after bank have deducted another N50.
This charges is only for stamps duty, and other charges will be included during the transaction
You didn't read the news very well. What is currently obtainable is the receiver that pays the EMTL of N50. The government is now saying the Sender should pay the EMTL of N50 when the transfer is From N10k and above. The receiver will no longer pay the N50 levy.

Before it was the recieve that pays the money... Now it's the sender that pays the charge so how is it a new transfer charge?

Read the article very well. Only sender will bear charges. The charge will shift from the receiver to sender.

This situation perfectly captures that "everyday na billing" feeling it seems like there's always a new fee or charge nibbling away at your money.

You made a mistake while trying to explain.

Current way: Beneficiary pays N50 on inflows from N10k and above.

New way (January 1st): Senders pays the N50 alongside other bank charges, if any. The beneficiary will get the full N10k or above. Zero charges to the receiver.

The levy is not new. Does someone who has N10k to transfer suddenly unable to afford N50? That N50 is now what will strain your finances in January?
