The Only Child That Was Called God In The Bible

Long before His birth, it had been prophesied that a virgin shall give birth to a child whose name shall be called Emmanuel.

Isaiah 7:14 (KJV) 

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

The name Emmanuel was later interpreted by archangel Gabriel to mean "God with us".

Matthew 1:22-23 (KJV) 

Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Although the naming of prophetic children long before their births wasn't uncommon in the Bible, however never was a prophetic child prophetically called God, until it came to the Child that was prophesied to be born of a virgin.

Moreover this wasn't done just once but on several occasions in the Bible, to prove His being called God wasn't by accident or a mere coincidence but divinely orchestrated by God.

Therefore the prophecy of His birth was unprecedented and the first ever of its kind in the Bible, hence it wasn't surprising this was the only prophetic Child in the whole of the bible that would also have a prophetic child as His forerunner who would come before Him to prepare the way before Him.

Isaiah 40:3-5 (KJV) 

The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

That alone distinguished Him from all the other prophetic children in the Bible, and proved He was above them all.

Moreover He was yet called God again in this prophesy given about His forerunner, to further confirm His status as God.

As if that wasn't enough proof though, after the prophecy about the Child born by a virgin was finally fulfilled, for the first time ever angels of God and the hosts of heaven were said to be seen on Earth celebrating the birth of a Child.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

This indeed proves the prophetic Child wasn't just man but also God, so God Himself became flesh and dwelt among us, hence the name Emmanuel (God with us) given to the Child.

I have dealt with this two passages with Macindhouse. This is the only passages he brings up anytime i ask for the evidence of jesus from the tanakh. And even you jesusjnr, you should know better, but unfortunately.......it is not to be.
Isaiah 7 is about a war, it has nothing to do with jesus. It is not a messianIc prophesy.
Sytia and the northern 10 tribes formed an alliance, they wanted to go to judah and effect a regime change. It means they were going to make war on Judah and kill king Ahaz and any of his children who could lay claim to the throne in the future. When king Ahaz heard, he was troubled and scared. Then God sent prophet isaiah to him to assure him that whatever they where planing will not come to pass, when isaiah told him he was not convinced and then isaiah then asked him to ask God for a sign that will assure him that his kingdom will withstand the threat of the two kings. He then said he cant put God to a test.. Then isiah then said. God on his own will give you a sign ,behold this young woman(Ha almah) referring to the prophetess was with child. Isaiah himself was responsible for the pregnancy. The real prophecy is given in verse 16. Before the child knows to choose the good and shorn evil, the two kings will be deserted by its people...

You will become pregnant and have a son, and you are to name him Jesus. He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David.


The child will be called son of God, son of the Most High and not called God like you misused Isaiah... Emmanuel isn't God's name, it is YHVH, Emmanuel means God with us, that doesn't make the person bearing the name a god or God, just like every one bearing the name el, like in Elijah or Elisha, God (so misquoting Isaiah 9:6 also)

As for Isaiah 9:6 the child has already been born. it is written in past tense. the child in question is future king Hezekiah
why do you people want yhis passages to say what it never says. you guys like taking text out of its proper context . learn, unleran and relearn.

That’s one of the main reasons why biblical scholarship is so important as it indicates why much of the New Testament is based on borrowed so-called “prophesies” from the Hebrew scriptures taken out of context, and rewritten as if they actually happened especially in the life of Jesus.

If people don't know the background to these stories they can' easily be misled by church leaders and preachers (who may not have bothered to do their research either) so do not know the details and background.

That’s why religions like Christianity are based on misinformation and myth and most Christians do not have the knowledge to realise this so are exposed to deceit.
