Egbeda Local Government Area witnessed a massive show of compassion and responsive leadership on Monday, 23rd December, as the Executive Chairman, Hon. Sikiru Sanda, hosted an end-of-the-year Food Bank Program at the Egbeda Local Government Council Secretariat.

The humanitarian initiative, organized to cushion the effects of the prevailing economic hardship and to ensure residents enjoy the festive season, saw the distribution of thousands of foodstuff packs to individuals across the local government. Each pack contained essential food items including rice, garri, beans, elubo, semovita, groundnut oil, spaghetti, tomato paste, salt, and other household staples.

The distribution exercise was personally facilitated and closely monitored by Hon. Sikiru Sanda, who ensured that the process was orderly, transparent, and that each beneficiary received their allocation without favoritism or exclusion. The chairman’s hands-on involvement was widely applauded by beneficiaries and observers, as it reinforced trust and accountability in governance.

The event attracted several notable dignitaries and political leaders from across Oyo State, who commended the Egbeda LG chairman for his people-centered initiative. Among those present were Elder Wole Oyelese, former Minister and co chairman of Oyo State Elders council; Hon. Olasunkanmi Babalola (Sunky), Deputy Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly; Pastor Akinade Alamu, member of the Oyo State Advisory Council; Hon. Ibrahim Simple, Executive Vice Chairman and Political Head of Ajorosun LCDA; alongside numerous other political stakeholders and community leaders.

Speaking at the occasion, the dignitaries described the food bank program as timely and impactful, particularly in view of the current economic challenges facing Nigerians. They praised Hon. Sikiru Sanda for demonstrating empathy, effective leadership, and commitment to the welfare of the people of Egbeda, noting that such initiatives help restore hope and strengthen the bond between government and the grassroots.

The speakers also collectively expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, for his continuous support to Egbeda Local Government and the state at large. They acknowledged his pro-people policies and inclusive governance style, affirming their confidence and trust in his leadership and declaring readiness to follow his lead as the state moves toward the 2027 political year.

In his remarks, Hon. Sikiru Sanda thanked the governor for his unwavering support and reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of Egbeda residents. He assured the people that his government would continue to implement programs that directly impact lives and promote social wellbeing.

The end-of-year Food Bank Program was widely regarded as a successful and impactful intervention, reinforcing Egbeda Local Government’s resolve to stand with its people, especially during critical periods such as the festive season.

This is not campaign period, this is a way of showing the people that government remember them. Stop saying what you don’t know, your politicians can be using a day or two food to deceive u, but as for Egbeda, it’s a back to back structures and outreach to the masses

Wetin dem go call this one now? Empowerment abi feel-good distribution. Our leaders can do better. Let them task their brains and be more innovative. You can do meaningful things and still make money. We know say ina go chop money, but at least do something that will largely uplift the people while at it.
