I was chatting with someone who just finished their service year, and they confirmed a crazy strategy: Corpers intentionally seeking rejection from their first PPA to force a better placement or relocation.
Apparently, if you get rejected by your official PPA (a formal rejection letter is key), you get another shot at getting a better PPA during your Local Government registration, or it makes your request for state/inter-state relocation much stronger.
The reasons for rejection are often hilarious or ridiculous—from "we don't need your discipline" to "staff quota full." But now, some people are literally going to the HR office and begging the manager to reject them so they can escape a terrible posting!
Have you guys heard of this strategy, or did you participate in it?

Yes it happens as far back as my youth service days. Some corpers posted to schools will ask to be rejected so they can either apply for redeployment or go and work elsewhere. Some of them end up becoming local government workers and do next to nothing till they pass out

I did exactly that while in service then..

Initially, they posted me to SEMB in Umuahia, because of my gig, I kindly told them to reject me and then asked me to choose. I chose a public high school, visited them twice a week (Monday-Friday). I didn't spent much time with them, but when I'm present, I teach them to the best...

Yes! But it's hard for PPAs to grant that request as they are mostly Schools in need of Corpers.

Since 1973, it has been happening.

You don't have to beg them to reject you.

If you don't like your PPA, look for an excuse at the back of your posting letter to request for Rejection.

Nysc year is an unforgettable year.
Most times people that did not serve are the ones saying scrap it.

Yes...corpers do it for diverse reasons not only for better pay.

Some will pay you exactly salary he paying his workers !
Some cop dey collect 3/4 allowee
Likes
State pay
Federal pay
Ppa pay
Some still gat side hustle

Some do it for security, financial, social , medical or psychological reasons

So yes, corp members do it. Even I did it. And many, if. not all civil servants do it. If not, you go kpai before your time ajeh

Yeah. I did the same. Told the principal of the school I was posted to that I wasn't interested in serving. Paid her some money, collected a rejection letter and left

Seems you served so many years ago, you can work your rejection back then, now, you can't, only the ppa can grant such request now.

No news here, this has been happening since the 90s. I served in Bauchi. At that time, many Corp members posted to TorovLGA secretariat got rejections on some flimsy excuses, like being asmathic (Toro LGA has about the same climate as Jos).

Please, who have any idea of the registration or how how much am I going to pay to have my company partner with NYSC to allow some corp members work in my company? Anyone with such idea?

It occurs very well.
During my NYSC, I was posted to a school that wanted me to teach JSS1 - SS3.
I kindly told the principal to reject me, that I already had an offer letter from another place.

The principal agreed.
And I carried my rejection letter from the school and the offer letter from another place to my LGI.

Yes , I went to my school I told the principal to reject me, he said that he can't reject me that they are looking for teachers I told him I can't wait in Islamic school that am a Christian

All I know is that I hate this whole NYSC thing to my bones.

Graduated since 2020 and I haven't gone for service, it hurts me that I have to do it in the end.

Make them just scrap this thing abeg 🙏
