Someone should explain this collapse in detail. It will give Nigerians an idea of times to expect it. Secrecy won’t kill us in the country. Okay, the grid has collapsed once again. What next? Na my pocket go feel am. Diesel cost. |

When everyone pays cost reflective tarrifs, the grid will work in record time Ivory coast used to have grid collapse on a regular basis, then in the early 1990s they essentially privatized their power sector and allowed cost reflective tarrifs. And it's not like they are rich people Today the only ivorians who remember grid collapse were born before 1990. Power supply is good for those on the grid |

If anyone dare criticise the government ineptitude their people will turn it to ethnic biases. They will say that you're attacking their South West president, but they forgot that this same man didn't see anything good in Jonathan's administration. He criticised everything and anything Jonathan did. Just imagine a country struggling to stand on it's feet with patry 5000 Megawatts and it's even collapsing every Eke market day. It is well. |

The truth is how can 4000mw be enough for 250 million population. Fashola lied to Nigerians,10 years of APC, we have not crossed 5000mw. Adelabu is incompetent. ![]() |

Racoon:The only thing the minister of power can do is to make everyone pay cost reflective tarrifs and also get the law enforcement to jail any one stealing power. Because revenues from tarrifs are not enough to pay for improvements as most people don't pay cost reflective tarrifs and many steal power by bypassing meters or refusing to pay at all |
| Re: National Grid Collapses, Restoration In Progress by nairalanda1(m): 5:56pm On Dec 29, 2025 |
obonujoker:Power subsides were only removed for band a people, who form less than 20% of consumers Everyone else is on subsidized power Ultimately this means the power sector can't make a profit to pay for improvements, even to pay for gas for the power plants Power theft by consumers doesn't help much either |

Any benefit surrounding extraction from the masses is always a lie. When we remove subsidy, these are the benefits...a lie When we move you to band A, these are the benefits ...a lie If we tax you to death, these are the benefits...a lie morikee: |

Nothing and I mean absolutely nothing has ever worked since APC ascended power. It would even have been better if the country was on standstill. But no, APC brought destruction and retrogression. One can only laugh when the nincompoops here call themselves progressives. |

Power supply is worser than ever.. Thank God for Sun king Power solar... Installed before it sky rocket ,.. Thanks to Tinubu government... No single drop of electricity this December.. Just too poor... |
| Re: National Grid Collapses, Restoration In Progress by opeldavid: 6:16pm On Dec 29, 2025 |
Inspite of the fact that subsidy on electricity tariff was removed, making us the consumer to pay more, yet this incompetent govt cannot deliver electricity to us. Is it when you increase tax that we will now see the dividend of this useless APC govt in power? Nope. Not at all. |

| Re: National Grid Collapses, Restoration In Progress by nairalanda1(m): 6:18pm On Dec 29, 2025 |
morikee:Yes because most Nigerians don't pay band a tarrifs. That means that anu profit made from band a users is cancelled out by losses sustained from the majority on the other bands Imagine owning a provisions shop where only 20 percent of your customers pay full price for what they buy, the rest pay half price and a quarter take your goods without paying. Your shop won't make a profit to run well/keep it a going concern. Same thing happens in our power sector. Profits are so low that it is a struggle to even supply band a people . |
| Re: National Grid Collapses, Restoration In Progress by nairalanda1(m): 6:22pm On Dec 29, 2025 |
MadPolitician:Well they all pay, no one bypasses their meters or steals power and china is an industrialized nation that earns massive income , and then taxation is premium Nigeria is a resource dependent nation with limited exporting industry, only ten million out of 230 million pay tax, 60% of metered consumers bypass their meters and most consumers refuse to pay, underpay or are on massively subsidized tarrifs which the government due to low revenues and corruption struggles to make up. All that adds to massive losses which means that power supply can't be fixed that easily China is even moving towards more cost reflectiveness by the way re tarrifs. Yeah , not the same, sonny |

Minister of power after raising tariffs like someone on steroids has to be the worst person on Tinubu’s list. The power sector has not gone into anything meaningful, rather we have receded and now in the abyss of darkness! |
