I'm from Edo state but the truth must be told. You can compare Edo state to ikorodu. Let me explain has big has ikorodu is other part of lagos developing ikorodu refuse to develope because of thee strong hold on traditional and custom believes which has enhanced the growth and development of ikorodu just like edo state development will always be slow cos of customs and believes such has this. When other state like Enugu, Lagos, Rivers eycare growing my dear state is buried in unnecessary customs that aids development.

I think that the most appropriate thing to do is to take the Oba of Benin, his council of chiefs and the culprits to court. Obaseki has everything it takes to pursue it to the end. Nigeria is sinking deeper into lawlessness

Obaseki wanted to corner the EU and German govt grant to build a museum in Benin city to house all Benin artefacts stolen by the British that were later loaned by the London Museum to a German Museum


The Oba said no that the artefacts belong to the palace from whence they were first looted by the British.

Obaseki waved the Oba's grievance aside because he (Obaseki) wanted to corner the funds and oversee the entire project.

The Oba went to court and the court ruled in the Palace favour.

Obaseki then did everything to frustrate the speedy return of the artefacts even though it was the palace and the FG that were fighting to have the artefacts returned .

Ironically , it was Obaseki's great great grand father that assisted the British in invading and pillaging Bini from where the artefacts were stolen and shipped to London Museum.

The British then appointed Obaseki as a puppet king but when the British saw that the people had no respect for a traitor, the British removed him and got the heir to the throne to continue the dynasty.

The British Crown remembered Oliver Cromwell and the Puritan movement who overthrew the crown and had Cromwell become Governor-General after committing regicide.

If there is anything monarchies have respect for is to maintain the powers and lineage of not only theirs but that of other monarchies be they friend or foe.

So what you see happening today is a repeat of the Obaseki family trying to unsurp and undermine the throne .

The Bini people like in the days of Obaseki on the throne are still in full support of their Oba.
