It can be both but one does not cause the other

Tyre wey done wear don wear

Based on our in-house Physicists any car wey blow tyre above 85mph will flip
That car na bullet proof.

I doubt if the company cannot afford good tyres.

Like you said, it maybe just to reduce liability.

The irony is you overspeeding and the person driving normally you can never get there more than 15 minutes earlier
It's actually less

Let's say you are traveling 100km

If you do 100km/HR, you will get there in 1 hour

If you do 110km/HR, you will get there in 54 mins

Most definitely a case of wrong overtaking.
My guess is he already wanted to overtake from afar. He must have been approaching the slow vehicle on the speed lane. Then at the last minute switched to the other lane. Realising the truck wasn't moving, he swerved and landed on the median. He/they were definitely on high speed. That wasn't a case of bad road.

It is a very sad one. I doubt AJ would recover from this. What would he tell their loved ones?
In the UK they overtake from the extreme right lane, that was the mistake he made that cost them two lives including his own

In the latest Tennis match battle of the sexes

Sabalenka women number 1 player Kyrgios Men number 600 who has been injured for the better part of the last 2 yrs

Sabalenka used the smaller side of the court,
Yet she lost in straight sets
E sure me Kyrgios let her win those 3 games. I don't believe Sabalenka can beat any male professional tennis player. Whether number 1 or number 1 million. I don't think she can beat a very good amateur male tennis player sef

Who she fit beat is civilians like us

Think you may be right about the overspeeding thing.

Just seen pictures of the vehicle; which is even a bullet proof vehicle. Sustaining that kind of impact especially if you consider that the truck that was hit was stationary.

FRSC posts on social media also alludes to overspeeding plus overtaking
It is also possible that naija corner corner came info the matter. They were all in boxer shorts - likely because the armoured cars ac had failed. I remember reading that this also happened to paddy adenuga. And armoured car windows cannot be wound down

An accident in a luxury car is something you are supposed to walk away from. I doubt any airbag deployed in that car. An armored car is supposed to be able to survive an rpg if I am not mistaken.

So there may also be a case of a dud armoured car. And where is the driver in all of this?

You are assuming someone did not cut corners. As ac no dey work, as brand new tire is over 150k, as the bullet proof has never actually been field tested

A bullet proof car can't survive that impact

Bullet proofing is for composites that toughen fibres for small projectile impacts not for catastrophic impacts. It would make little difference

On top of that the car didn't hit head on, allowing the bonnet to absorb and crumple across the width of the car. Na just the side took all the impact and crumpled down one side only. Not even Trump car will survive that.

Plenty dead bodies by roadsides that people are used, Might be victims of road robbery, thieves caught and burnt or even Aboki that fell from a trailer

One time in School an AIESEC exchange student came from Holland, on her way to Lagos, the car passed by a dead body, She screamed and called attention to it and everyone else just dismissed it as just another dead body, She couldn't say a word and was in Shock till she got to Lagos
😅

Any car hitting that truck at 80km/hr will be totalled
Not necessarily if the point of impact is by the side or rear which based on the photos looks the case

Physics will point towards relative velocity as to why it could have been worse if that truck wasnt stationary, then the effect of deceleration too

AJ’s accident and the deaths brings bad memories for me.

In 2019, this was exactly how we lost David Nwosu aka Iko Mmi, a kid I knew personally, like personally and a very close friend of Kelechi Iheanacho.

They were returning from clubbing in the early hours of the morning and hit a stationary trailer. That death hit me a different way.

Keep resting Daedo! My heart goes to the families of AJ’s friends. Losing a loved one, worsestill in a foreign land has to really really hurt.

I still sabi small physics, so I dont think the bolded works in all scenarios especially for a bulletproof cars which has heavier mass which would increase its inertia

Remember that the force needed to flip the car has to be lateral. Not just lateral but it also has to be greater than the decelerating force (or G force as some call it) from the impact

Also the tyres that burst could be the rear ones whcih of course reduces the possibility of a flip

A faulty and dud car would really be bad if that were the case but I doubt that would surprise anyone given how reckless these guys can be.

About the bolded, read that the driver did survive and is part of those receiving medical attention.

My theory based on what I have read so far is that the driver did try to overtake while speeding then had a burst tyre and swerved to the right where the stationary truck was to limit damage. Could also be why those that died from the impact were those on the right side of the vehicle

I doubt the driver of that vehicle wasn't Nigerian, but we can't be so sure. AJ and the driver survived, his two friends who were by the right (front and back), died.

Many many people have died from such accidents

A Stationary truck parked with no caution lights, or probe light. No reflectors... Nothing.

It's a horrible sight to behold.

The politics in Rivers has been nothing but comical

Wike is insisting that Fubara, who defected to APC, cannot be the leader in Rivers

But Wike is in PDP grin

grin grin grin

Ogun state ke?

In the remaining 36 states in Nigeria, I doubt if there's any emergency response.

It is only Lagos is see that every local government has a fire station...With most having recent model of trucks.

I have never seen that in any state in Nigeria

The gap has always been there.

Lagos State has far more resources than Ogun State.

Lagos State government policies have better continuity from governor to governor than Ogun State policies.

Lagos State elects governors who are intrinsically more competent than Ogun state governors, practically every time.

Yeah one Socrates’ criticisms of democracy. It potentially leads to Rule by the unqualified.

It is however the best we have for now cos in another world someone with Tinubu’s influence/power over Lagos could have been selecting incompetent governors and the people would still have no say in the matter.

Another thing very common in Lagos, is that companies usually assist in emergency responses when they can

These companies have an ambulance or fire truck, and Incase of emergencies around their location, they assist swiftly.

I have seen banks in Lagos Island deploy their firetrucks to put out fires in the market. One time, a gas tanker fell close to Agbara, and Nestle PLC fire truck was the first to be on site.

With all the numerous companies on Lagos Ibadan expressway, no one had an ambulance to dispatch to the accident site.

Well, I am not surprised. Na Chinese companies full there.
