If any ordinary person in the streets of bini identifies you as someone who criticized their king, all he needs to do is to raise the alarm on you, and they will descend on you.

Unless you have evidence to show that the oba ordered his people to do what they did.

Sanctioned how? You comment without knowledge of the full story. Did you see the king in the video? The chiefs they meant at the palace told the youths who assaulted him that no one was after Don Pedro Obaseki for anything he said. When the youths insisted that he must be arrested, they ask them to go, that the palace would handle the situation.
The chiefs they met ground were very civil in handling the situation. Immediately they saw him kneeling, they ask him to stand up. It was the youths that insisted he must kneel and crawl inside the palace.

The act is totally condemnable and thorough investigation must be carried out and anyone found wanting (no matter how highly place) on the issue should be prosecuted.
